True, but it lets you read the first couple of paragraphs I think, and there's not much more than that anyway in the article.

Just gets added to everyone elses bill in the end. We all pay for it, unfortunately.

Indeed. That is what the Telegraph article says.

We contacted Avro to advise them that we'd moved out in July, it then took a couple of months to get them to actually close the account and confirm we were in credit (couple of hundred £ as it was the summer), then they went pop before they got round to paying it back!

I have since contacted Octopus on numerous occasions (who apparently we have been moved to, despite our account being closed) but apparently they still haven't received our account details from the administrator yet.... most frustrating.

Any had a similar experience and have any tips as to how to get our money back?

Latest update and it seems the administrators are dragging their heels.

I’m owed just over £300

Bit frustrating as I haven't paid anything for 2 months which will roughly cancel out my credit I had. Nothing showing on Octopus about my balance still. I wonder if they'll take payment on 2nd December?

I'm not actually blaming Octopus as I don't think it's their fault. I just prefer to know where I am and this will result in higher monthly bills as I've had a 2 month payment holiday I didn't want.

Same here, haven’t had any contact from Octopus. I moved to Igloo who went bust, still waiting to setup account properly and moving house later this week……..

I left my DD with Avro and it has continued to be taken (and I can see the balance on the Avro site). For Dec, I have setup a DD with Octopus and cancelled the Avro one.

My DD continues with Avro. I wonder when the change over happens in terms of customer agreement. Octopus is still waiting to complete agreements so does that mean Avro is still my supplier?

Administrators seem slow to complete. Is this because while Avro is still collecting DD then this will pay the Administrator. The liability then passes on to Octopus who claims back from the government (tax payer)?

That would mean the slower the Administrators are then the more secure they have their payment covered by the taxpayer.

The adminsitrators proposal on Companies House is very eye opening for Avro...

You can see how much the administrators are charging as well smile....

I finally had an email from Octopus saying they'll collect my first direct debit in a few days. I cancelled the Avro one the day or day after they went bust so guessing I'll have to raise my debits (a lot) to catch up.

Average rate of £651/hour!! Wow! I assume that bill will mean that no suppliers will be getting paid (assuming energy companies are treated the same as ordinary businesses)?

It seems very strange to me that any energy company offering fixed price tarrifs wouldn't have *any* hedging strategy in place. Either I'm missing something, or they had no idea how to run a commodities business??

They didn’t.
-Deregularise the industry
-Impose price cap on suppliers
-Guarantee security of supply for consumers

Bask in electoral glory

Oh, and watch the industry collapse the first time it comes under real pressure.

My first DD went out to Octopus last week - the same amount I was previously paying Avro so I guess it will be just like that until they have my balance figured out and then we'll be playing catch up around the New Year with an increase in the DD

My account shows that Octopus are waiting for Avros administrators to issue the final bill and then the balance will show, Im assuming that is the same for everyone? I guess there is a certain date the new tariff is applicable from but havnt had any communication on this.

Mine says the same, have managed to get DD out (to Octopus I cancelled the Avro one)
New tariff is from when Avro went pop as far as I recall.
