After a good bit of work it has potential to be a nice plot, I'm sure. Some very generous room sizes and it's a very nice area.

Scratching my head at how they're looking for "offers over £450k" when this, imo, peach of a plot is struggling to shift down the road

How busy/noisy is that railway line?

The plus side for many a PH'er with this and the last one (blatantly a converted retail outlet) is that just down the road is Grantham, where the Maggie Thatcher statue resides. Could cool yourselves right down washing all the egg off it!

Yeh, thats a big no from me. Given the state of it, where it is and what would need to be done to it to end up with some flats in Dewsbury, I'd guess you'd be what, £800k into it. In Dewsbury.

The estate agent also drives a convertible Evoque. Run away.

It’s a shame really as it’s a rather nice old building (bar the insensitive alterations), but as you say, the location is dreadful

This one made me laugh from my neck of the woods, only a 2 bed semi.

The absolute cheapest and nastiest of make overs with all materials sourced from B&M Bargains, naff new kitchen with cupboard doors already hanging off, bathroom they couldn't be arsed finishing, grey paint liberally applied to rotten, falling down fencing and exterior doors and window frames (apart from those that require a ladder) and all on a rather scruffy estate... but they seem to think they can smash the price ceiling for the estate.

And the cherry on the cake is it's cash buyers only for some reason...

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/124161182#/...

Previous highest price was £200k in 2021 for a 3 bed semi with a much higher quality standard of finish...

The dado rail on the stairs wall is probably the funniest thing I've seen recently.

The conservatory is linked to the house - breach of building regs

Also no bathroom so technically "uninhabitable" from mortgage co's perspective.

Cheap however!

If you needed 9 bedrooms for something other than a cosy house, it's awesome!

Air BnB if there's the need in Burnley seems a bargain, student accommodation, budget hotel??

I would actually really like that. No idea what the area's like but seems v cheap for the sheer space you get.

I expect it would be a bugger to heat though and likewise in the summer that glass roof would soon get warm..

Would be ideal accommodation for a disabled person, already got a lift, plenty of space for hoists etc and bedrooms for live in carers.

Christ, I missed that on the first look! Pictures 13/14, the second bedroom. Going for the padded cell look? And fake brick wallpaper is so chav-tastic.

Yes, if it was £1.5m I'd have laughed but at that price, I can see potential for making it less bland and actually business uses. Not sure I would want to live in it, though! And I guess that's why it's in this thread.

Edit: also, streetview isn't great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20XLWEjN9eI

Looks like it has all sorts of other property attached to it around the edges as part of a larger development? Weird site but cheapish.

Slight lack of bathrooms though to go with the cells.

I do quite like the basics of the building with that iron dome structure; in the right location with ownership of the whole building that could be something really nice.

Yeah, just needs a custody desk in the central area and the local constabulary could make use of that. Bucket in each cell job jobbed.
