So machines doing household chores aren't keeping the entire family up all night with their noise and vibrations?
It’s a million pound plus asking price - I doubt the owners are trying to save every penny by using off peak electricity. If it’s noisy, don’t use it when it’s going to be annoying…

Upstairs utilities are great. You just need to get a decent machine that is close to silent.

Looks a nightmare to me. Two semis and a layout that doesn't fit with a family house of its size.

It's one instance in which putting the house number in the glass above the door is a bad idea. In this case the number(s) being 267-269. It kind of screams that it's 2 semis bodged in to a detached.
Lovely view but that's about it.
Those window frames do not suit that house style!

Yep my neighbour has 2 utility rooms. One downstairs with a machine for dogs, horses blankets old towels etc.
upstairs for bedsheets and towels. Means not traipsing through house with sheets downstairs then back up again.
Also doesn’t get hair over everything from animals by using different machine.

This isn't a nightmare, as such, but photos 28 and 29 are intriguing. Did he ride it up there?

Also, the estate agent didn't exactly anonymise it, so the explanation: https://johnmcphee.co.uk/

I can completely relate to these two points. We have three dogs (one senior/EOL and incontinent) two cats (one of the same) And 60 odd poultry, which can be bought home if ill. Accordingly it feels like our washer (an old school Miele, so hardly pneumatic drill decibels) feels like it is never off. We are planning a utility, which will home a second machine, purely for animal stuff, for the reason you cite. Currently we often have to do a short 30 minute rinse cycle before doing a human based wash!

So an upstairs utility would be a put off for us, but we're not at the level to afford a house this size, so points taken.

Exactly.

Upstairs (and bathroom) washing machines are much more popular on the continent. I think we're alone in being obsessed with having them in the kitchen.

if you dont have a utiliy then yes kitchen as if you dont have a utility your house is likely small so you really dont want it upstairs!

anyway if its not downstairs you still have to go downstairs to hang it out and bring it back in as you cant use a tumble drier for everything

WM in the kitchen is definitely a British thing.
Continental Europe, as you noted, is more likely to be in the bathroom, upstairs, or on older houses, the basement.
Our laundry is on the 1st floor. smile

Hard to see where the margin is on that at that price. Next door made £140k in late 2021.

It starts off promising from the first photo but you're quickly wondering wtf at some of the, er, interior design choices.
That is dedication to distressed mirrored tiling on a celestial level. Great house though. Why POA??
I've never heard of "Halsall" before, but I'd assumed it was in the Liverpool/Manchester area from the house.

Turns out I was right. That neck of the woods really is the home of 'new money' these days.
The best bit about Halsall used to be the canal side pub, but they went all pretentious and its not the same.

I suppose if it's just smoke damage and nothing structural required there could be a decent margin in it if doing all the work yourself, probably not so if you're paying someone full labour rates.

After fees and equipment, would you make £20k profit? Seems easier just to get a job stacking shelves in Tesco.
