Roebuck Barracks a former Canadian military base, more recently called Appleton pig farm near York. Built on a 16 acre plot of land historically prone to flooding.

Open prison meets conference centre styling ... On the plus side for PH readers they've got large garages.

Stalag Luft III

I'm already whistling the Great Escape.
I'm seeing Colchester MTCT, where all the naughty soldiers go; do the houses come with floor polishers so the new owners can do bumper racing?
Not even the Glass House was as soulless as those houses.

Saw that pop up yesterday (still have searches on from when we moved back to York 3 years ago!) - its epic on all levels. Seems like a really good price too given this soulless 70s box on that massive estate in Haxby came up yesterday too for £700k: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/144927776#/...

Where's the "inviting garden"? All i see is a green patch with some dirt and a few patio slabs.

Inviting you to actually do some gardening?

Looks like you own the space under half the archway. It would be tempting to build an annex of 2 storeys inside it.

At least you wouldn't need a garden umbrella.

Photo 10 - is that sink really as small as it looks - it's barely a tile deep, why not just have a normal sink??

A studio apartment for £5,000 in London???

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/147119483#/...

The catch is that you have to excavate it yourself. biggrin

Description
The property comprises a development opportunity to create a lower ground floor flat beneath an existing mid terrace house arranged over ground and two upper floors.

Accommodation
The buyer will be required to excavate the area below the ground floor in order to create a new self-contained flat (subject to obtaining all relevant consents).

Five grand for a plot in London doesn't sound that awful. You've got to admire the entrepreneurial spirit there.

I bet once the digging starts they'll wish they asked for more though.

I very much doubt the shark selling this "opportunity" is the poor sod who lives in the house above it, paying rent to the aforementioned shark.

That, right there, is an excellent point.

Picture 5 shows a door that isn't on the plan. Nothing unusual in estate agents not getting the particulars correct unfortunately
