That is a really nice blend of old and modern. And is that one of those fancy Jaeger-LeCoultre clocks on the mantelpiece?

Think it’s one of these rather than an Atmos:

Impressive house but the light industrial estate next door (visible here on the right) kills the overall vibe for me.

There is a lot to like, not too big and I've always liked Matlock. Enough garage space and the space above is fine for an office. The wife's best friend doesn't live that far away either.

I'd make the orangery the main dining room and the summer house would make a nice workshop with a few tweaks.
that is very nice but "...Master Bedroom 13' 1" x 11' 10"..." is just too small. I'm normally a big fan of 'knock through into the next bedroom and make it a master suite' but still off-putting

This is why I don’t understand many of the expensive waterfront properties in hard to reach parts of Cornwall etc. if you had millions to spend on a beachside property that was hours from a city I’d hop on a flight to SOF or Italy or Spain. Horses for courses I guess.
I suspect that the issue there may be language - not everyone wants to learn another one later in life?

It looks like they've been selling off the estate to different developers. Industrial estate on one side, houses on the other with now a shared driveway, so you're left with quite a small plot for the size of the house. And there's also that big new housing estate just to the north creeping ever closer.

Anyway, nice house if viewed in isolation, but I think it would be best suited as a boutique B&B.

Not keen on the fact that it's Grade 1 listed nor the lack of a nearby pub but lots of wood panelling, dedicated library and 50+ acres of land more than compensate.

Well at least they appear to have changed the lighting since the last time it was up for sale.

Not sure who would part with 2M for it though given what else you can have for that money.

Last time it was on they were asking 3.7M for it... obviously didn't get it.

Nightclub not house. We'll meet again. And again. This is third time to market I think?

I've not seen that one before.

I really like that, and if I had £2m, I might consider it.

Apart from the hyperbole of "surrounded by private woodland gardens" - I rather like that one. It is handy for a choice of local bars and eateries, plus it has a local chemist shop for the necessary indigestion tablets. Right by the harbour, but just far enough off the main tourist road to Babbacombe.
£2m for this, or the same amount for a one bed flat somewhere in the city....

Usually it’s the big Scottish pads I look at and immediately feel cold. But even in Torquay I can’t see that being very warm for most of the year.

So a couple of points from me.

Firstly, at the apparent original price of £3.7m, it would be a nope from me.

At £2m though, it's very compelling, but I know nothing of the area. Which leads me to my question - what makes Torquay an absolute sthole?
