My old neck of the woods, relatively good value so to speak. Lovely part of the world. Only 10 mins drive to nearest tescos. Some great driving roads on your doorstep.

That's awesome, imo, with some cracking interiors - some of which I wouldn't change at all.

It makes me think.

How hard would it be to steal £3.5 million quid ?

I wish I'd worked harder, been more ruthless, sold Google a line of code. Etc.

A couple of nice hifi setups too (in that narrow respect it's like my house).
I wouldn’t put a turntable on the same surface as amplification.

Back to the house - awesome site, but horrid overblown execution - too much house, not enough home.
Sorry to go off topic but why would an amplifier change anything where there are no moving parts? I love to know these sorts of things and I don’t even own a turntable or a record.

^ vibration from a big amplifier transformer. Best to isolate each component, especially a sensitive mechanical device such as a turntable.

Fairly serious place. Great views for the south.
Bit of a jumble of interior decor, but lovely property.
I'm presuming this sort of thing was built before Planning regs came into being.

Nice to have been 'old money' and able to create some great stuff in amazing locations!

As it was built in the 1800s, yes, it pre-dates the planning system smile

Without wishing to divert the thread too far into an audiophile discussion laugh How much of an issue is this in reality? Surely the bass from a decent set of speakers nearby would produce more vibrations than the transformer inside an amplifier?

Sound is still a vibration though, obviously a big bass gives off huge vibration.

I am amazed that the vibration from a transformer wouldn’t be damped out by a quality turntable and that bass would not cause more vibration.

I very much like both of them… the castle for its building, the Torridon house for its situation.
Also, neither are priced at fanciful offers over numbers, although of course the market will determine the prices.

We only have a hifi setup now with a single turntable and an amp side by side on a glass / metal stand, with speakers on the floor either side.. they're not too bassy so I don't think we'd ever have an issue.

But back in the day I had a pair of Nunark direct drives and Behringer mixer, running through one of those gaudy 90's 'MAX SOUND TURBO BASS' stereo systems laugh We used to mix drum & bass / jungle where some of the bass lines would shake the hell out of the room and I don't think I ever had an issue with the records, which is why I asked (although fair to say, sound quality wasn't the main consideration back then laugh)

Don't forget the 331k stamp too. Unless it's your second home, when you should pinch £436,250 on top of your 3.5M...

I’d live in the garage block, make the other bit a holiday let…

Is this area of the North West really that bad?

These seem very very good value for money, lovely views, decent size, all for £625k

They remind me of something from the Miami Vice film a few years back.

The tiny castle is ice cold energy rating score 1!

Surprised the "Torridon" one is only C rated despite being built in 2021.
