This is the kind of house and estate I’d buy given the opportunity. Despite its size the owners have done a great job of making it look very homely unlike many of the country houses we see in here.

That is lovely and a nice part of the world - great findhttps://search.savills.com/property-detail/gbsarsl...

Been for sale for a long time though, it's come on off and back on the market annually, I wonder about river flooding or the proximity of the church put people off.
How does it work with the church bang next door. Punters can turn up when they like? Weddings on a Sunday? Seems curious no mention of it in the details NomduJour said:

Is that... a mausoleum? So the dead family will be watching everything that you do on their land?
Nope
At least they’ve demolished the crematorium…Nope

Mausoleum is a good building, wouldn’t concern me.

The fine parish church (for which there is no chancel obligation) and a privately owned mausoleum are located within the grounds. The owners have taken great care to ensure that visitors are able to cross the grounds to the church with ease, without imposing on the privacy and security of the house and gardens.
I had to google chancel liability. Apparently:wikipedia said:
Chancel repair liability is a legal obligation on a small number of property owners in England and Wales to pay for certain repairs to a church, often the local parish church.
But I imagine the proximity alone is enough to put some buyers off. NomduJour said:

My neck of the woods. A bit plain and uniform inside, but I'd jump at the chance.

Bit of a jumble of interior decor, but lovely property. Very strange for the main staircase to not serve the top floor. Would expect it to be full height, with a skylight making it act as a lightwell. As per tradition.
Must be very odd to climb such a large staircase for it to end with a flat ceiling under one of the bedrooms. Should be able to stand on the galleried landing, look up and be further impressed.

I used to see the owner of this quite a lot, he has done up a few houses locally and developed a bit. This is one of the premier locations for Haslemere.Must be very odd to climb such a large staircase for it to end with a flat ceiling under one of the bedrooms.
