What's the 4p one? Go was the cheapest I could find @ 12p.

Still finding my way TBH, as it's all new I wasn't sure on the best path. Certainly in the middle of March, we were importing way more than exporting, so I decided go would suit me for know. And I "think", once it gets properly warm, I can run the heat pump for the kids above ground pool using all excess we generate too - so I still think that go is probably suitable for us. But we'll see, but I'll leave it all alone for a while to get a feel for it all first.

He means for export. SEG is available to all and they pay you 4.1p kwh export. You can sign up on their website. You will need your mcs, dno letter and a photo of your meter's export screen.

Oh sorry, I misunderstood.

No. On Go you get the 12p import price, but no export.
Which is a shame, we've exported 14kWh so far today and about the same yesterday.

Ideally I'd want to go on to the "flux" setup and do a forced export during their peak times, but I'll leave it as is for now.
This is an interesting article comparing go to flux : https://protonsforbreakfast.wordpress.com/2023/03/...

You misunderstand how SEG works. SEG is available on Go.

I am on go and get 4.1p for export.

Talking of SEG payments what’s currently available, not historic, right now?

Currently getting 5p & even wfh charging everything & using all the high load goods still exporting so could do with a better deal.

I think that is the best you are going to get. Not going to get rich on it. I exported about 4kwh today...woohoo

Octopus are paying me 15p per kWh (Outgoing Octopus 12M Fixed). We exported 10.3kWh today.

They are charging me 7.5p kwh at night. Charge the car, do washing etc. Would be nice to have both, but it isn't going to happen.

When I spoke to them, they said the import tarrif and the export tariff were independent of each other. Things may have changed since then, though.

We're on Octopus Tracker for import. The lowest it has got is 17.33p, but there is nothing to stop it dropping below 15. If that happened, we could empty the battery, then refill it. BONKERS!!

Only because you are also an Octopus customer for your supply as well. Whats the charge for that!

Ah. Thank you.
My error was I trying to sign up for outgoing octopus.
Do I need to do anything to get my 4.1p?

M1AGM is correct, you can get 4.1p/kWh from Octopus SEG if you're on Go. If you were not on Go, Go Faster or Intelligent then you could get a much better rate (12p ?). But you can go to any of the bigger suppliers for SEG; you're not confined to Octopus just because you're with them for import. See here

Octopus Tracker for electricity today is 22.59p with a standing charge of 44.12p. 23.06p tomorrow.

You can’t be on a cheap car tariff like Go or Intelligent and on Octopus outgoing (fixed or agile) is the confusion. The basic SEG tariff is fine however.

Need to get mine registered now the export is going up (despite the powerwall). Probably going British Gas as they pay 6.1p/kWh right now (I’m on Intelligent Octopus, so can’t get outgoing)

We've just had a 4kW panel / 7kWh battery system installed, and they threw in an iBoost.

We're on oil CH with a new (92% efficient) boiler. Given a litre of oil is around 70p / l and yields approx 10kWh, my thinking is we're better off exporting any surplus at 15p / unit (Outgoing Octopus Fixed*) than using it to heat water.

  • applied for.

No worries, I think you have been already pointed to some resources. The thing to bear in mind is that once you are approved for exporting you are given an export MPAN which is tied to your smart meter. That export MPAN can be used with other suppliers in the future. Its the export MPAN which gets you paid.

15p/kWh for Octopus outgoing fixed if you're on the Octopus Flexible tarriff is one of the best, planning to get onto flux as soon as my smart meter is fully within Octopus' hands.

Yes, I have the MPAN now, so just signed up to the octopus SEG. Will review later in the year and see if Go or Flux turns out to be the better option for us.
