So, how can I put in measures to prevent pigeons sitting on the powerline that goes across my drive.

This time of year I get droppings on the car daily. I'm not talking your usual 1-2 inch splat, I'm getting 5-10 inch curry night style splatters of crap on the car and is really irratating me now.

I don't have pigeon trouble, but a car cover keeps the car much cleaner for longer. Also keeps leaves and debris from lodging around the wipers.

Buy a Falcon?

More seriously you can get reflective bird diverters which hang from the line.

Is this a private powerline or the service line into your property? I the service have a chat with your local DNO and they may be able to sort something out as you don’t want to touch the conductor just incase!

I should have added - the power line runs across the front of the property, not attached to my house. I've got a pic but it is crap.

I can't access it to tie anything to it myself. It appears to feed the 3rd house like mine down.

Yeah it is a service line i believe to a neighbouring house - I'll try contacting them, perhaps there is something they can do .

Buy an air rifle, that's the only way to stop it, then the next one etc etc

When you stand on a stepladder to hang something on that 400,000 volt power line, could you just video it for YouTube?

I admit this failed when I tried it, but an ultrasonic bird scarer? - Easy to just set up underneath and it can detect movement on the line and try get them to move on.

It will be 11kv.

Air rifle or fake hawk placed in the vicinity should see them off.

Incorrect. It’s an insulated LV supply cable. It’ll be 415v absolute tops.

As it seems to be an overhead service not serving your property I would definitely be in touch with your local power company. They will likely be more than happy to help you with the situation

I wouldn’t recommend shooting them, you’d be breaking all sorts of laws and a nosey neighbour could ruin your day.

Have you got a wayleave in place for the cables? It is sometimes possible to have them moved.

Really? Whislt I sympathise, I can't fathom how the power company would care in the slightest.

Has the OP considered a scarecrow of some sort. Doesnt have to be the traditional wurzel gummage type, but something floor based rather than trying to hang on wires.

Probably overkill but could you not knock up a carport?

I've fired off an email to the power lines poeple, but I don't hold much hope, a good idea though so thanks for the suggestion.

I've tried scarecrow and some shiney dangly things in the window of the house that overlooks the line.

Re Car Port that was my first solution but my wife said no way. I've got a tandem garage around the otherside of the house. This really is first world problems - I've got 5 cars so selling off one and grassing that space is my wife's preferred option biggrin

Because sorting this issue out is far more cost effective than a complaint and Wayleave termination b
