Cement mixer potential renovation
Discussion
In France at the moment at son-in-laws house and we have today pulled out a large towable cement mixer from a bramble hedge. The drum is knackered and the mechanism connected to the wheel you use to empty the drum is shattered (cast piece). The drum and the mechanism can be replaced and the parts are available.
The problem at the moment is the wiring for the Honda 5.5 GX160 engine which seems to have been ripped out/modified at some point, hopefully the pic below has posted OK. Is it possible that someone could help with letting me know what should go where.
The wires to the Emergency Stop have been disconnected and joined together and the earth wire is missing (you can just see the red earth tab attached).

Looks like if you Google the engine model + 'wiring' you'll find diagrams and pictures of what it should be like, hopefully enough to get you going.
It's a standard well known unit even if you can't find the docs for the actual mixer, so the wiring should be similar for anything else that used it.

The Honda engines are pretty good for having wiring diagrams/manuals on the website.

Thanks all, will cross post to ebay gen thread.
Had a look at the manuals in the link but the wiring is different to that in the manual but am not sure if there is an oil level switch so will have to investigate.
Replaced the oil and drained all the old fuel and put new fresh petrol in, tested the spark and it does spark weakly with the wiring as it is but the engine doesn't want to fire and just wets the plug up.

Looks like the emergency stop was probably wired into the "oil Alert" unit which grounds out the ignition coil to stop the spark if the oil gets too low. Looking at the photo I'm guessing the blue and brown wires go the EMO button, so probably doesn't matter that they are twisted together.
Obviously best to start with the basics
Fuel and spark
Oh and does it have oil?
Quick bit go googling and found a service manual which covers the GX160 https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&a...

Thanks for the response Blue. There is new oil and new petrol so all OK there. Removed and cleaned the plug which was wet after a few pulls, grounded out the plug and there was a spark but a bit weak I think, fuel is getting through because it's puffing out of the plug hole when pulling. I think the next step is to replace the plug and also I think that old fuel may be lurking although the bowl was cleaned out when the old fuel was drained out.
Unfortunately there's no way to disconnect the drum from the motor at the moment as the adjuster to release the tensioner on the drive belt is seized solid, it's a big heavy drum with a massive lump of concrete that's gone off in the bottom of the drum which tries to turn every time the pull cord is pulled.

Unfortunately i think you will have to tackle getting the drum disconnected to make any progress. I suspect the weak spark will be due to the engine not turning fast enough. Normally with a Honda engine if there is fuel and spark there is no reason why it shouldn't run.Unfortunately there's no way to disconnect the drum from the motor at the moment as the adjuster to release the tensioner on the drive belt is seized solid, it's a big heavy drum with a massive lump of concrete that's gone off in the bottom of the drum which tries to turn every time the pull cord is pulled.
Does it feel like it has compression? you can check by taking spark plug out, stick your thumb over the spark plug hole and try spinning the engine over, you should feel some pressure.
Was thinking if it has been sitting idle the one of the valves might be stuck, although from what you have said about the spark plug being wet with fuel this might not be the case.
A new electric mixer is 250 euros out of brico depot , unless you’ve got a lot of concrete to mix , if you have point p have pre mixed collection depots that also offer delivery and pumped options , your better off putting it back where you found it , it was left there for a reason !
