If it’s the same poster and I’m sure it is, he plugged his pre fab homes on another thread fairly recently.

As you say it has no bearing on the OP and his problems which I’m sure will all be sorted before he gets the keys but like I said it’s more stress and headaches for them when you don’t need it. The plot will be NHBC or a similar cover depending on the house builder.
It is NHBC. I’m not sure what reassurance that gives any more tbh biggrin

It means your plot won’t fall down until it’s 10 years and a day old. wink

Think we’re making progress - they’re sticking with their story about the stairs being slightly bigger due to a change in supplier but have proposed a solution to improve the aesthetics by moving the door slightly.

I’ve agreed to this providing I can go on site and measure the room sizes first to ensure I’m definitely getting what I’m paying for.

Site visit today confirmed that the room sizes are absolutely spot on so it looks like this is being brought to a close! The door opening will be moved to the left.

I don’t have reference measurements to check but this is what they’re saying.

Did you tell the builders you were on PH and that you were powerfully built?

This could have left them the impression that you liked to dominate the stairs so they felt they'd better make it wider. This could be cause of the original problem.

Good result.

The house builder clearly has quality control issues, but the two problems you have found are both being resolved. That is a pretty good sign.

You are still going to have to keep an eye on them, but walking away was a nuclear solution. Good luck with the rest of the build.
Thank you. They’ve come up with reasonable solutions for the other things I was unhappy about too (mostly questionable design rather than build quality) so I think we’re turning a corner.

I just wish that everything wasn’t such an uphill struggle - confrontation/denial seems to be the default position when they’re questioned.

Had another site visit today. Remedial works to the staircase / door opening interface are complete

What did they do? Move the door and keep the oversized set of stairs?
Yes.
