Thankfully it's rare I have to deal with Trades as some, not all are a nightmare. Decided to replace some bi-fold blinds and thought I may as well change the panels too as starting to mist.

1st choice reputable company - We don't work on PVC anymore, only aluminium. Ok fair enough.
Tried elsewhere - We don't do panels alone but can highly recommend someone, ok great

I contact said recommended person. Ask about integrated blinds which he can do. We agree a visit that evening to measure up.
Dash home from work, prep for visit etc, no sign. Wait 15 min, maybe traffic, nothing. After half an hour I write it off and no contact I get on with my evening.

A few hours later I get a text. Apologies couldn't make it. Your quote is £2100.

I haven't bothered replying. Maybe an overreaction but I can't be bothered with people that can't send a simple message to say they are delayed and also conscious if he's declared a figure without seeing the job or taking any measurements, it must be toppy enough to cover all eventualities!

Not sure what it is but Window fitting / repairs seems to attract a certain type. We have been trying unsuccessfully to get someone to quote for repairing our Windows for the last 2 years.

One chap had a go at me over the phone for ringing him as he is far to busy to take calls from people that live more than 5 mins from his house. A simple no I'm too busy would have sufficed.

We have also had the sorry I didn't show up but it's X per Window. I even agreed to one text quote and I'm still waiting for them to turn up.

We find all our builders/tradesman via the local 'gossip girls' FB group (or rather she does!). Recommendations from there lead to people giving us quotes and the work done with minimal fuss.

We've just done a bungalow conversion and had blinds fitted off that back of that. Worth a go.

Yep recommendations from either a tradesman you do trust or (area dependant probably) your local Facebook page seem to be the way forward around here.

Replacing the glazing is a piece of cake. Won't take much longer than the measuring up.
