You can fit velux windows from inside. You don’t need to be on the roof.
Like for like perhaps but he's going larger so will be slating/tiling involved and, potentially, trimmers.
I’ve fitted them from scratch from inside , I’m just about to do another 2 on my own house ,although it is a plain hanging tile roof and the house in its own space , not a street .
It all depends on the roof covering and site , I wouldn’t advise trying it on a slate roof 4 levels up , also I do the work myself , no point in a contractor getting in trouble and causing danger to the public to save a client a few quid .
I did three Velux from inside on my roof. Takes a while but isn't that difficult. Hardest bit was getting the slates back under at the top edge of the window, as the window frame means you have to have them at an angle, rather than flat.

10k-12k, depending on how much making good they include

..Gosforth/Brandling Park?
Jesmond, right behind the Civic Centre, so definitely no cutting of corners on the work.

And not that it should make any difference to the price, but it’s a relatively old house, built in 1840.

70cm?

How likely do we think that is?
precisely zero
I don't know, as the old veluxes are 50cm, and it's a 19th century building, there's a chance they ripped out some pesky rafters already?

Who knows but you are generally looking at around 16-18" crs on rafters in traditional properties. So they have almost certainly 'trimmed' previously to accomodate the existing windows (20") so that will need to be done again to get to 700mm (28").

PS: For clairity what I meant in the post above is zero chance of the rafters being at 700mm crs smile

About 100m away in fact, I walk past there going to and from the park.

You’ll probably have moved before you finally get a quote from a builder / roofer / window fitter despite chasing them every week for the rest of the year.

Whereas I sit here able to hear the roar of the crowd and unable to get a ticket for the games.

My little boy would love to go to St James’s but it’s hard to get him there.

Mrs L just bought a NUFC membership and she seems to get quite a few tickets through that route (she got Spurs the other weekend), I'm not really bothered but I like to see the Toon do well.

Very, usual would be 24”/600 Centres, could be 18” if original roof was clay tile ( Doubtful oop north, but not impossible)
