That still on the market?!? It was on here around a year ago. It used to be offices about 20 years ago. I worked there, my office was up those stairs in the grand hall. smile Lovely place.
That is the one for me, really really lovely. i would buy that tomorrow if my euromillions came in.

My in-laws live in that village. It's a nice place. Possibly too close to Middlesborough. And not much land for a house of that size. It was a company HQ until a few years ago.

maybe it is the tightwad in me but the first thing I think when I see these old houses is how much will it cost to heat in the winter...

Could soon be a hotel/wedding venue if the current owners get permission

With efficient heating it can be made to be less than it used to be, use multifuel burners on the ground floor with back boilers to boost the water in upstairs radiators. Or as some are doing installing a bio-mass heating system which can be installed in an out-building or cellar, these big houses have lots of space for options.

Newer homes with sufficient loft and wall insulation that meets the energy efficiency regs can additionally apply for grants for biomass boilers, solar panels or ground source heat pumps.

Not sure. I've been going up there for the last 25 years. Burglary rates seem quite high.

Fabulous countryside, though. I'd move up there in a heartbeat - I love it in Yorkshire.

IIRC it was offices, and I suspect that only a few rooms have been dressed it converted to 'house' spec
It was HQ for a spin out from ICI. However, I'm pretty sure its been a private house for quite a few years now - I remember seeing it in Country Life a whilse back and chatting to my in-laws about it.

A lot of competition, if it became a wedding venue - there are a lot around that way - Crathorne Hall, Judges, etc.

We got married in the church at Hutton Rudby and we had the reception at Crathorne, second child christened in the church too. Very fond memories. I love the moors. I'd like to retire up there.

Love it. I'd keep the interior just like it is.
You'd have to - it's Grade 1 listed! Gorgeous, but surely a complete pain to own...

Any changes to listed buildings cannot be done without first obtaining Listed Building Consent through the relevant local planning authority. But it can be done.
