Are you sure you haven't seen evidence of drug dealing from the address? The police could be very interested "if" you have...
No they won't.

There's a house next to me that has loads of drug dealing going on. Every now and again the police 'pop round' and arrest some bad guys, but it's a temporary solution and doesn't solve the problem. However, unlike the OP these guys don't st on their own doorstep - they like to stay low and there's never any trouble/noise/anti-social behaviour (apart from a messy garden). Seems lesser complaints = lesser police action.

Oh, and on the other side of me I have stolen credit card receiving a constant supply of goods! Police don't have time for that either. But they're extremely quiet and low key.

Move to a better area. If you can't afford to, accept your place in society.
I was wondering how long it would take for the first dick to turn up.
Out of interest why?

I've lived in an inner city bedsit with a bail hostal for neighbours. The place was scary, but all I could afford. All sorts of bad things occurred, not just loud music and revving cars, BAD things.

Society is a mixture of human beings, from murdering scum to brain surgeons, you pay to live where you live, are you really expecting the council to ensure that everyone behaves?
You, my friend, are an idiot.

Maybe you have lived in some stty place which should make you more aware of the misery it causes when its on your doorstep. A lot of very decent, law abiding, considerate people live in areas that are affected by anti-social neighbours so does that mean they don't have any right to a decent quality of life? Don't be so fecking stupid. By the sounds of it, you no longer live the bedsit you used to and you've forgotten how bad it was.

Society is a mixture of human being, you are right there but it doesn't matter where I pay to live, I expect to be able to live my life to a decent quality with the threat of anti social behaviour disrupting it. It does happen however which is why the council are prepared to deal with it and take things like this very seriously. Do I expect the Council to ensure they behave? Yes, I do because anti social behaviour is not acceptable and they have the power to do a lot about it. The next time you wade into a thread with a pointless comment, think about the huge number of decent families who are affected by this, and what it does to people. Then I would suggest that you disappear up your own self righeous ar5e and don't disrupt this thread with your pointless garble again.

OP - you have my sympathy for your situation. The best advice I can give is really what everyone else is saying - keep a detailed log and go through the correct channels. The upside is that they are just renting the house which means they might not be there for long. I'd also go with the suggestion that you try to contact the landlord direct, perhaps without giving your name. They may care, or they may not but giving them the information gives them the opportunity to act. I wouldn't want someone like that living in a house I owned. Best of luck though, I'm sure you'll resolve it.

A load of scroats have rented the house over the road from us and turned it into a right old dos house.

Since they moved in a month ago there have been regular bouts of insanely loud music (so loud the windows have been vibrating) late at night, loads of drunken teenage fools hanging around outside, arguments and nearly fights outside the front door, and stupid cars with stupidly loud exhausts (not nice engine noise, the usual Shatso and Fiesta st) pulling up outside and revving the engine.

After two weeks of this I got a bit miffed and called the police, this was two weeks ago today actually. They said that they couldn't do anything as it is a 'civil' matter. They suggested I go to the council.

Went to the council last week and was told that I would need to make an appointment for a week's time to speak to someone. WTF! The buggers at the council spotted the fact that we had UPVC windows installed one weekend last year (we didn't realise we had to have them checked and pay a tax, sorry 'fee' for this). But I couldn't see anyone on a Weds morning to complain about antisocial behaviour.

Anyway, I was in a rush on Weds as I had a funeral to attend so I left the council after waiting for 20mins and was told to ring them for an appointment.

When I originally rang the police I was going to say something that would get them there. Something along the lines of the fact that the scroates had a weapon (the chap at the council on reception even told me to say this). But, my fiancee told me that was naughty and I shouldn't say that.

So, I'm stuck in this situation now with the doss house over the road regularly spurting out very loud music, late at night, with groups of teenagers walking in and out of the building, making a racket, and acting 'hard' with each other.

I open this up to the PH massive to give me some suggestions as to what I can do about this! What can I do?

Fire away all.

I happen to be in a similar position to you, only involving a new built house which appeared behind ours. I could probably just about cope with a st box car exhaust, but 6 2strokes revving away through the night is far from a joke, as is the loud music, and the yappy little stty dogs they allow out at all hours.

Add to that the parties, and the parents constant urge to look through my bedroom window while on the back patio smoking, and i'm starting to reach the end of my tether. My local council (Kirklees) won't do anything about it, I have paid several visits myself, but now they won't let me through the gates.

Hope you have a better outcome than me. smile

You might be pleasantly suprised what could happen if you have a wander over the road and just talk to them.
Indeed. You could get stabbed.

Oh, a Landlord WILL care, because it is the Landlord who finds himself in court and defending the nuisance claim (and paying out if/when you succeed). That's why I said to find out if it is rented and if it is, a nice letter to the landlord (anonymously if necessary at first to protect yourself) advising that legal proceedings will be issued in the event the nuisance doesn't stop.

Agreed about the camcorder. Buy one and record everything, making sure you include car registrations and house numbers, etc so there's no possibility of circumstantial.

If you happen to spot on of the chav-mobiles without tax there'd be no harm in zooming in on that either wink

Also, seriously, go round there nice and friendly and ask them to keep it down.
In all likelyhood they'll tell you to f-off but you never know - if you approach them and say
"Look, I've got to live across the street, I don't mind you having people round but please can you keep the noise down a bit late at night and ask those with cars to tone it down?"

They might say yes.

And, when the council turn up and take away the stereo, even the Chavs will manage to work out who MIGHT have called them............

No they won't.
I did type "would be interested" originally, then changed it to "could" when I thought about it. Although if plod visit occasionally at least they're doing something to inconvenience the scroats.
