Oh dear, sounds expensive. If you have a look in the boiler, there should be a data plate, with model type etc, on it. (inside the door, or a drop down panel)
What there should be, is a GC (Gas Council) number, and usually a serial number.
Those 2 pieces of info will help greatly in identifying the correct part.
Its not impossible that with those numbers you may be able to discover availability of the H/E online.
