I've just received a kitchen trade magazine this morning and there is an article on Tsunami, their ex displays were for sale at 50k and average spend was 70k yikes
Think they have gone bust though. I went past what i think was their showroom on Wigmore Street the other day....there was a notice int he window from the receiver....all those kitchens were going to auction.

Do you live in a disco? hehe

There are some impressive kitchens in here. Must be satisfying if you've done a lot of the work yourself too. smile

Edit - with the lack of handles do you push the door in and it pops open? It looks like a great touch.

Yes you are right it does look like the local pick up joint in those pics, but that is just my bad photos. In real life it is a lot more subtle.

As for the handles all the cupboards and draws have hidden finger pulls. I wanted a kitchen that would be esy to keep clean as the other half can manage to trash the place boiling a kettle of water biggrin

That's a real shame. Of all the kitchens I've seen, it's was one of theirs which stood out the most. Huge big stone creations which still felt clean and modern.

Was a little surprised today to see a SieMatic kitchen today..... 143k! Fully computer controlled including the cabinets but god knows who'd buy it.

Ah maybe I got that wrong! That's how rumurs start. I wasn't paying that much attention...I knew there was Tsunami store along there and really didn't look at the name of the shop.

Hi... I gathered some information about Granite worktops are very heavy and can be difficult to handle in confined spaces. Our fitters are experienced and will be extremely careful. However please remove cupboard fronts and any other items that may get damaged during fitting of granite worktops. We can not take responsibility for damage to such items that are left in place.

We priced up a Howdens and our builder/fitter showed me the quote they gave to him - discount was 70% IIRC. By the time I'd added his fitting, worktops, appliances, flooring etc it wasn't a cheap kitchen.

We ended up with a Schuller - the price difference between the 2 was less than £800 and the Schuller beats the Howdens in every area.

Howdens discount is largely theoretical, different people will get different stories. If you get the timing right, they can be pretty cheap, but then they ought to be. Find out how much they are asking for what you want, then have a good look at the display kitchens, then ask yourself whether what they are offering is worth it for the money.

I had a look at their carcases once, with a view to offering them as a less expensive option, and decided against it. Kesseler cabinets are a bit more expensive, but for the difference in quality they ought to be a LOT more expensive.

Howdens have a deal going with builders, the helpful builder lets the customer use his account to buy the kitchen so they get the builders discount, however the quote Howdens show to the customer is not the same price the builder will be paying.
