I have none at the momment but me and the otehr half are either going to get Degus, rats or house Bunnys

Still trying to work out if Rats or Degus will be better for us though
rats! farrrrrr more sociable and fun than Degu's which will try and get away from you and scamper while rats will happily sit on your shoulder or wander about and come back...far more intelligent too , and rats are cleaner, they will use a litter tray for example but a degu will just go anywhere! had house bunnies (and still do 6 months of year) they do interact with you but some can be destructive as chewing is in thier nature! and you must get them neutered or they spray a foul smell!

Really - i had heard that Degu's are very people orientated but if rats are more people orientated then i will have to get our lass over her ewww rat-tail thing

Bunnys we already know can be distructive so we have prepared for that but we thought it better to have amller less distructive animals first

hi, Yeah Degu's are quite people orientated as in more than hamsters, but not as much as rats, just going by the ones I have had! Our degu you had to go in and catch to take out of the cage where as the minute you walk in the room the rats are at the cage wanting to see you! I absolutely know where your lass gets the tail thing, I too hated the idea, but actually she will find herself stoking them as they are really soft and warm! lol, girly rats are more adventurous and boys more laid back is the general feeling! and of course the males have a couple of rather large extra bits that can be off putting!! haha! I have rabbits, degu and rats and would choose rats, then rabbits then degu personally, but thats just me!

show your lass my little cherubs! (pinchmeimdreamins post)

2 cats, 5 fish, 2 teenagers, some spiders, one bat and the mouse a cat brought in last night that I can't catch.

Ok so apart from the cats and fish the rest are wildlife but I still share my home with them.

i have a dog and a 19 year old boy, although from the state of his bedroom he may not yet be an animal, but some lower sort of proto life.

the dog some would say is spoilt, she sleeps in our room with us, and has a bed in living room and kitchen as well. mind if we are on the sofa watching telly she is between us.

2 humans
2 cats
3 dogs (black labradors)
3 rats
16 tarantulas
6 fishtanks - 2 main tanks with c30 fish in and four breeding tanks with probably 100+ fry in them, plus an indeterminable number of amano and red cherry shrimp

plus assorted locusts, crickets and bean weevils for the spiders and a brine shrimp colony for the fish

sadly Martin the preying mantis died the other week, and we had to have one of the rats put down due to a chest infection.

we always count our 'family' by number of legs - 162 not including the live food or shrimp!
