I now have multiple pigeons "coo-ing" outside my window from 445am, every morning. They are driving me mad. I wait for them.

When they start my earplugs (PH biker talk recommended) fail to block them.

How can I get rid of them?

You have the wrong earplugs then! I use Boots foam earplugs and they pretty much render you deaf. We have a quite loud dawn chorus where we are but I never hear it anymore.

Get an airsoft sniper and pick 'em off. One by one.

I have somthing thats a bit woody, a bit metally, and incredibly noisy, which tends to deal with all airborne foes in remarkably short order. I suggest you investigate ownership of such a device.

Is it Nicholas Cage's acting career?

There are firms who can deal with this problem.

Or independent specialists.

Am I imagining it or has the Columbidae population rocketed recently? I have exactly the same problem. Not only that, they are now sitting up on the telegraph wires with their new sprogs, who not only make a similar racket, but will be back next year spawning more of these pointless noisy creatures.

I have a decent .22 air rifle here with a telescope, but you have to be very careful on that front. Any shot must not exit the curtilage of your premises, and it seems to be a bit grey around whether you can or can't dispatch the fkers for the sake of a good night's sleep; I think you're supposed to have tried "reasonable means" to get rid of them humanely first. We are also plagued with magpies, although they don't seem to be such early risers. At the end of our road, it's not unusual for there to be 15-20 of them all congregated on the same patch of grass.

Outside your window ? How far away are they ?
I used a .22 with some shot shell bullets (like a shotgun shell, lots of small pellets inside) at the weekend to get rid of some birds in a friends barn. Probably only effective up to about 10m away.

Read "to kill a mockingbird".

Ok, it's not about pidgeons, but how much different can they be from mocking birds?

Stop listening for them coo-ing and wait for them to say "your pizza's ready" - that's even more annoying wink

Get an air rifle with a telescopic sight. Shouldn't need to kill more than a couple of them. If you can stand to leave one lying around without its head for a little while, they'll stop coming back in pretty short order.

Plus, once you've invested in a decent rifle, you'll be amazed how satisfying/therapeutic it is to shoot water balloons, small fruit, eggs or better yet, glass bottles, with it in your back garden biggrin

The disclaimer is that no pellet or pigeon parts may leave the limits of your property or property in which you have the landowner's permission to shoot. So long as that doesn't happen, they are vermin and you are allowed to shoot them so long as you do so as humanely as you can.

Easy - get your shot gun cert and fire arms ticket.

Buy a .17HMR rifle and ping them off at 500 metres or bring out the under & over and blow their feathers all over the place from 30 metres.

This thread has made me hungry...I'm off to get me some game for a game pie!
