Our 7 1/2 month old Rottie just keeps destroying EVERY toy we give her. We have tried everything so far and all she does is chew, chew, chew! She has bones to munch on in the evening but just turns to her toys and destroys them in minutes.

Anyone suggest any 'indestructible' toys? Help lol!

Yeah she has a Kong and uses it alot, but she gets bored of one toy and wanders off to find more! We have gone through loads... maybe just a few different Kong toys would do?

Have you inserted Peanut Butter into the Kong yet? Used to keep my dog entertained for a while

Other than that I don't know I am afraid, haven't had dogs for a few years now

We have a similar problem; rope toys are the worst offenders!

Today I've tried a new tactic - I've mixed yoghurt, marmite and hot dog pieces, put it in an empty bone, and frozen it... on the basis that they'll lick it for ages...

I'm going to investigate them at lunchtime - I'm hoping it'll keep them occupied for an hour or so!

...I'll report back.

We've got 2 springers whose favourite game is get the white fluffy stuff out of the toys and spread it all over the house.

Recently bought them a 3 pack of toys by 'General Barker' from Costco which have words like 'ballistic nylon' on. They've yet to destroy them after a few weeks, which I think is a new record. A tenner well spent so far.

Well we have done the thing with filling up the Kong but as soon as she is finished (it does take a while I will admit) she goes off to destroy things!

Rope toys are the worst as said above. She ate loads of the stuff while we sat and had lunch at a pub the other week and then just threw it all back up. I keep a closer eye now as she cannot be trusted.

I think I will have to get another Kong and just swap them over. Don't want her getting fat through eating too much though, she is a very trim Rottie at the moment but I have seen them at their biggest... not what we want!

White fluffy stuff covered with dog slobber: hurl

The other option, of course, is to do sixty million hours a day of running round off-lead - she can't destroy her dog toys if she's flat out in her bed... wink

ETA - you should be glad she's chewing her toys and not your house. Our six month EBT pup has chewed skirting boards and the carpet on the top stair, despite having a million chew toys and people and another dog to keep her entertained!

Stag Antler - lasts considerably longer than a traditional dog chew (we're on three weeks, whereas chews normally last 30 seconds) and is apparently good for them. No bits left around the house as it doesn't splinter.

Kong Wubba - as others have said, Kong make the best range of near-indestructable dog toys.

Can't comment on the sellers in the links, but these are the toys that have survived the onslaught of our 8 month old labrador pup - everything else just disintegrates (including Audi A6 boot covers!).

Not all of the above will be suitable but boomer balls are meant to be very good. (Though in truth no toy can be guaranteed indestructible.)

Nylabone do a range of bones that used to have a 6 month guarantee (not sure if they still do) Now adult teeth are through they will be suitable, always buy a size bigger than smaller

I'd go with the traditional nylabone range rather than their fancier ranges and the Galileo range is good

This has been pretty much indestructible.

I use a broom handle to pick up the toy and lob it, hence avoiding dog slobber, said dogs then run after this toy and bring it back.

Aside from a regular Kong, their Kong Wubbas are the only toys our two have not managed to destroy. Given that one dog has a pathological desire to destroy anything with a squeaker in it, this is some serious durability from the mighty Wubba.

Do you just give the dog a toy and leave it to amuse itself? maybe try playing with it for a while and see if it is not so bored and destructive.
My Belgian has lots of life in her but she gets about 2 hours of walking/ running a day and some play time at home. If left to play with toys by herself she will normally play lets see if we can tear this apart. If I play with her she does toys no harm. We still have toys that she has played with every day since she was a pup and is now 16 months. Other toys that I have just left her to play with have lasted a matter of minutes.
I have not tried one yet but those Stag antlers are supposed to be very good.

She has always got our attention. She goes for a walk in the morning, I play football with her at lunch, she has an hour off the lead after work and then a little walk/run before bed.

When we are at home, we always play with her, we do some fun training with her but she destroys toys the second you sit down to eat your dinner, or go to the toilet or anything else you think you might like to do.

I have no doubt she is in her destructive stage but I just don't want to be taking toys off her every time she gets a new one.

Fair enough, I'm out of ideas then. I was really lucky with ours she is not very destructive at all. Even when teething she did no harm to the house.

frown

Our EBT pup has started chewing the wall.

The wall.

She's given up on the skirting boards and wooden table in her room. She's chewing the wall.
