Dog insurance !
Discussion
Just been getting some quotes for my 4yr old Gsd. 'Animal friends' seemed to have the best deal until the small print. £116 for 3k worth of vet fees/ year seemed fair enough..but they only pay max £500 on any treatment.
So if my dog breaks his leg they only pay £500 to have it fixed. If he then did something else he would qualify for another £500,( etc etc up to the 3k limit) but how unlucky can a dog be in one year ?
Then the £99 excess so my £116 gets me £401 of cover..
RIPOFF !!
Anyone have any recomendations
Dave.

My boy is insured by PetPlan
and thankfully so he had to have a operation on his stomach plus Antibiotics along with special food totalling to a bill of £1750 iirc
PetPlan were a joy to deal with during this traumatic time (My dog was very close to death, without the operation he would have died, no question)

What's key is that you get lifetime cover so that something that occurs continues to be covered during the dog's life. Without this, each condition is paid once and then is excluded.
We also use Petplan and they were fantastic all through our (young) spaniel's long involved auto immune condition.

I've been perfectly happy with Liverpool Victoria.
I'm on the premier plan. Absolutely no hassle when I had to claim. Up to £5000 of treatment for each condition with no time limit. £60 excess.
