My old boxer died on Friday aged 11. She was diagnosed with cancer 3 months ago and given a poor prognosis, however she was a real fighter and showed no symptoms of it at all. I had been away on business for 2 days and she was staying with my mum and dad. I got a panic call on Friday pm from mum saying she thought she was having a sudden attack of gastic torsion or "bloat". I rushed home but by the time i got there she was already at the vet having emergency surgery. She didn't make it.
I hadn't seen her since Wednesday night, I never got the chance to say goodbye.
On Wednesday she had been so well, running & jumping around like a puppy.
So many happy memories, we were devoted to each other.
Here's a pic of the old girl

I'm so so sorry :-(. Such a cruel condition. It hits so suddenly. A good client lost their newfy to the same thing the other day. Fine am got to a bin scavenged some bones midday by 2pm she had to make the decision to have him put down.

Take comfort that you gave her a great life and she was with people she knew whilst you were away, please try not to dwell on not saying goodbye easier said than done I know

Sorry to hear about your loss, I have a 15yr old staffy who I love with all my heart, and it's sad to know that they don't last as long as us.

Hope you have a merry christmas smile

It's never easy. My Lakeland terrier Ted is lying upside down looking at me right now. He's 6 now and has caused more trouble for me than you could ever believe. But I will be shattered when he dies. But it eases and you look back with fondness with time. Just don't get another on the rebound, give it a bit of time.
