My folk's house is in a rural location with woodland, fields, hedges and I've seen barn owls flying. I put up a box for blue tits last year which they love so thought I'd crank it up a notch and put a build a barn owl box to put on an old oak tree in their garden. The site seems perfect from reading up on them.

Has anybody experience of them? I'll probably use the plans from these guys at the Barn Owl Trust

Great Christmas present for people with everything. Plus if it gets used it sorts out next year's present with a wireless camera.

Who me ?

I (or rather the FIL) made one to those plans and we mounted it on an old telegraph pole which sticks out of a hawthorn tree. There are barn owls around and I've even seen one sitting on the box but after two years the buggers haven't used it. Perhaps I'll have to move it, presumably there's something they don't like.
