Just went to put the fishes Xmas present in the tank and found this just above the water level:

Not sure what, if anything I should do but we have two apple snails which I'm sure are the culprits. Anyone know what I should/should not do to keep the little blighters going?

certainly look like snail eggs to me, as to care of them?????
prehaps see if you can buy one of those small plastic/mesh tanks designed for fry to live in and suspend this in the tank,
i reckon when the eggs hatch the snails would migrate down to the water into the hungry mouths of waitng fish.

Yes they are apple snail eggs, they lay them above the water line. They need to remain moist and will fail if they dry out completely.

Mine laid about four batches Like that before they successfully hatched. Ended up with an extra 7 snails, they grow very quickly. The fish did not seem to do anything to them.

The eggs need air and if they fall in the water they will die.

Cool maybe some babies for the new year then. Any idea how long before they may hatch, if at all? Not sure how long they have been there as I only open the back to clean or stick my hand in so they may have been there for a week already.
