Having realised how much more expensive the flea treatments are to buy from the vet compared to online, and then realising I apparently need a prescription to buy online and my vet wants to charge me a ridiculous price for a prescription and will then only give me 6 months worth. If I were to buy a load of flea treatment online from a French website where you apparently don't need a prescription, what issues would that cause? If I bought 5 years worth I reckon I could save over £150 compared to the prices my vet charges. Has anyone else ever done this sort of thing? Had any problems?

It's also illegal, much higher risk of it being fake as well.

How is it illegal?

Why would it be fake if you're buying from a proper pet supplier? The prices are the same as from the proper suppliers in the UK.

It is you that is commiting the offence because you will be seen to be importing drugs (POM V category) illegally into this country.

Liverpool Veterinary University got into hot water about this recently, even though they were importing a drug for their own use and because it was temporaily unavailable.

It is no laughing matter.
