Same as most, largish garden, dog only uses it for toilet. Unless it's sunny and we're out there, then she'll be out there sunbathing, trying to find frogs etc etc.

I'm in a terraced house with just a yard at the rear. Not a problem for my Weim' who just uses the yard for toileting, morning and night. He gets 2 walks a day of 40min at lunch time and 45min-1hour in the evening, with slight variation at weekends; Both in local country parks. For the majority of that he's off lead so covers a lot more ground than walking on lead. He sleeps 90% of the remaining time.

Our whippet will wonder in and out if the door is left open (and as long as it's not raining!) but he doesn't like being shut out (usually accidental) and only occasionally lounges out in it, prefers the conservatory! He has room to have a charge up and down (approx 50 foot lawn) which he does on occasions on his own or when encouraged but he's definitely in more than out.

However I like the fact that he (and the cats...and now our toddler) have the garden to enjoy. We specifically looked for a house with a good garden for the animals (no kids at the time) as we didn't have easy access to a garden when we first got him.

We have since trained him to use a sectioned off area of garden for toileting due to little one. Works most of the time, not bad considering he was being taught to break a habit of 7 years of toileting anywhere!! (our fault we should've done it from the start but we were lazy about it)

Absolutely love the garden..... playtime... silly time... chase time!!

We don't have very secure boundaries though so the upper levels are gated off but they go out when we're up there... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o750jC0j6ak&lis...
