Pills, Injections and more pills. No sign of heart disease so worst fear abated for now. Just have to give her a few days and see. The vet reckons the fit on friday was significant but we are not to worry about losing her for a little while longer.
Wonderful to hear.Spoil her rotten.

Feast of cooked chicken, stuffed with pills and a drizzle of honey for her ladyship. (naughty but I don't think it can do her teeth any harm now!) She is in a bad way though. Hoping to see results with the pills.
The swollen abdomen is apparently not heart related but he couldn't tell why. She has had anti inflammatory and antibiotics.
I am just so grateful for just a few more days.

Er, MC... you OK? Do you need some help on People Food and Cat Food? I can run through a few simple pointers if you'd like?
Mabes has a good night for the firs time in a few days. she even ventured upstairs to slepp near me for a bit. Leg is slightly less puffy but has one massive foot still. Chicken feast for breakfast.
I think I need to move her loo downstairs though, soggy bathroom floor this morning - YUK.
We as humans have the ability prolong life for our own self gratification. If animals are happy and have the ability to carry out their normal life then long live our pets. But at some point we have to let go and stop trying to avoid what we know is the only outcome. I've been through the agony of calling the vet so many times that I know how you must of felt. Hopefully things turn out for the best but don't prolong just for your own comfort sake... Harsh words but well meant.
Oh absolutely. I totally agree. I have been logging her health for some time waiting for that cross over from Mabes the healthy happy cat to Mabes the sick cat.
She is very much on the cusp and I know I don't have long with her. Her quality of life is now swung over that 50:50 benchmark that she has been holding onto for so long. Last night if I had been told it was her heart then I would have made that decision to end any more suffering. I don't know if the treatment will work and so have to giver her a few days to try and fight off whatever made her so sick.

Really glad the pills seem to be helping.
As for knowing when the time has come, they find a way to tell you in their own way. They really do. Our Fredster managed to find the strength to tell us he'd had enough, and it was utterly heart-wrenching. We did the right thing for him, but at the time it didn't feel the right thing for us as we couldn't bare to say farewell. You always live in hope that they will get better, and they are remarkably resilient, and will recover well. You will know when they are in pain, and when it outweighs their happiness.
We stopped bothering with his diabetic cat biscuits and wet food towards the end, and put him on fresh fish, shellfish, chicken and steak. He absolutely loved it and it was one of the ways he told us he was ready when he stopped begging for it.
Enjoy your time with Mabel, spoil her. And be happy when with her - it was one thing I learnt, they pick up on your moods, and your sadness impacts their health....so keep your chin up, and keep smiling. And cuddle lots :-)
Best wishes.
