No I'm pondering in public while I'm bored in a waiting room. The cats not up to much conversation, so I thought I'd ponder here.
Edited because being bhy probably wasn't called for...

Hope the cats good bud.
On reading your first post I suspected probably a bite. He'll feel a bit sore but hopefully his meds kick in soon. Glad you got him seen tonight, he'd have had a miserable night else.
The sore hips maybe due to the infection making him feel stiff and achy esp if he had a temperature.

Yes fortunately he's insured. £170. Inspection (Lovely polish bloke. Thought he was welsh to start with), 3 injections, metacam, and antibiotic tablets.
I only got a text today from petplan about scraggies latest claim.... Seems like I visit the vets on a daily basis.
Ho hum. Lets see how we get on keeping him in for a few days!

Did they mention lancing the abscess? Esp if it is large,
No mention of lancing. Just that it was possible it might ooze. And if it does don't worry too much...unless the antibiotics have run their course.I say large. His upper leg is clearly swollen now we know to look. I'd say it's about 1.3 times the width of the good one. Including fur.
I'll keep my eye on it and hopefully it'll start getting smaller from tomorrow. Presumably it'll take a while before the antibiotics really get to work.
No cone of shame.
Legs still swollen this morning (expected), but speed has picked up again! He's just run full tilt down the stairs and jumped onto a PC desk to look out the window.
A distance photo (otherwise he just head butts the camera). But I think you can make out that his left leg is bigger than his right.
