White campbell ducks = that's helped me make my decision as to which ducks to get. Thanks!

Looking good. What have you done to stop foxes burying underneath the fence? Wire mesh under the grass?

Yes , under & out we have tested the waters with some old frozen chickens, The chaps at the higher end of the " chicken club " are pretty convinced this penn is fox proof

Jesus H. Christ. I don't envy you.

How have you found a tent strong enough?
hehe

Was fantastic. Such great roads and utterly stunning views. Became a theme everytime we swept a bend to announce 'ooooh, look at that house, they've got a great view!'

Took my two youngest sons, as they missed out on our trip to Applecross last time, 12 hours in the CTR, they were brilliant. For the first time ever we tried a Camping Pod

I was pleasantly surprised at just how insulated it was. Which despite it being a sunny weekend, Monday came in drizzly & blustery...

'ooooh, look at our view!'

Loving the Pods. Luxury. I must be getting old.

Back on topic...The site is a working croft, complete with pigs, ducks & chickens. I have planned at some point I want to bring a hen back home from every trip we do to add to my flock. Now my 'poultry paddock' is coming along nicely I might start next year.

We are, I believe, in the same county. If you want some fertile eggs in the Spring I'd be happy to (gently) drop some off to you. That is of course you have a handy broody hen or duck to hatch them, or an incubator - if they see you first you'll be Mummy. Or I'd be happy to hatch them and bring you the (un-sexed) ducklings.

smile

I know it's early days still but how are the white ones in temperament? Our white Sussex star is a right old mardy arse, can't catch her! She is loosing feathers at the mo, if it's a moult, it's a very thorough one hehe

Not sure. i'll check later. They all seem happy & friendly. One things for sure they will have a great life. Rita thats the grey one seems to be the lady in charge. When she goes to bed they all go. They fascinate the life out of me

Chicken behaviour is constantly fascinating. They have so many funny quirks and weird behavioural traits that I really wasn't expecting before we got them smile

Ours are almost 3 years old now and definitely laying less as they get older. Still amusing though and still nice to have them wandering about in the garden, destroying the flowerbeds, on a nice sunny day:

The silver sussex is a right grumpy bh and because she's the boss I think she's influenced the other two as they started out quite friendly and handleable but now they're all a bit flighty. smile

Must be white chicken syndrome! Our mother hen a black rock I think, would see the other two in before she went to bed, but the new ones she'll chase away from bedtime smile
