Just found this chap in the garden.

I've checked with the locals, but none of them has lost his rabbit.

Just thought I'd check whether anyone here had mislaid theirs?

I've made it a lair out of an archive box and it is currently in the garage guarding my motorbike.

It seems quite happy at the moment, but I am ill equipped for animal husbandry.

What's the correct protocol in these circumstances?

Awwww, da wittle bunny wabbit!!!

I wouldn't have thought they travel far, previous experience of escaped bunnies has usually turned them up in nearby gardens or bushy areas.

If nobody knows anything about him, then the best bet, as already mentioned, is to call the RSPCA, Blue Cross or other local animal shelters and say he's pitched up and nobody knows anything about him.

Or keep him and train him to attack any burglars, its the last thing they'd expect!

He'll need hay tonight and a few veggies. (24 supermarket will hve hay) Spring greens, kale and a knob of carrot (a nice treat) will be best as cauli and brocolli cause dirty bums. And water.

He's cute. Can I have him?!

Stop it, Ben.

You are not going to shag the rabbit...

Thing is, we live in the middle of bloody nowhere. I can't believe he has managed to find our garden without being eaten by Mr Fox.

We are at least a quarter of a mile from the nearest village. And that is on the far side of a railway line.

I guess that a poster on the local village hall noticeboard is called for.

Is your Mrs on Facebook and friends with any local school mums? post it on there and it will soon spread locally.

Obviously must belong to a child, hang about outside schools with the rabbit and ask kids if they want to see it, they might recognise it.

As you say, it has to be someone local. Put some posters up in the local village and no doubt you'll make a sad little kid happy again. Good work on rescuing it! beer

dont bother with rspca, they have 1000`s of rabbits and there are far better places to rehome him to.
go out in the morning and get him some nuggets and hay, notify vets, he may well of been dumped, lots are by owners who cannot cope anymore, and they think its pefectly ok to just set them "free" in the "wild"

Is he quite tame and friendly? That's usually a good way of telling if it's a beloved pet or another poor bugger bought because a child wants a bunny.
