Living in SE London we don't have an abundance of coast on our doorstep and the hound has yet to experience the beauty of the beach!
We've a good few places we take her with lots of water to play in, she loves it, and we really want to take her to the beach.

anyone know of any dog friendly beaches (that let dogs on this time of year) in essex/kent/east sussex? I had a google but it only seemed to come up with ones that won't be open until end of September for dogs, ones where they have to be on a lead or very small shingle beaches. I don't mind if it's shingle but quite fancy a really big stretch of beach so she can have a good old rip around!

Cheers!

Mersea Island in Essex is dog friendly. Lots along Suffolk coastline when you get closer to Yarmouth so a lot further from you.

Sandwich Bay, Dungeness, some of Whitstable (heading out towards Seasalter), some of Herne Bay (heading towards Westgate)

Pretty much all shingle though. Sandwich Bay is pretty expansive as is Dungeness (which also has a cafe, pub and of course 2 nuclear reactors).

wish I'd bloody gone today, ended up nearly getting in a spot of fisticuffs with a very large, camp chihuahua owner at our usual Saturday spot!

You should have challenged him to a duel - cream puffs at 10 paces hehe

Is that an owner of a camp chihuahua or a chihuahua owner who is camp?

Another week and I believe dog restrictions at camber sands are lifted. It's fantastic for the dogs as there's plenty of pools at Low tide and the is very shallow.

yea, I think we're going to wait now - last weekend never happened and might struggle for time this weekend so looks like we'll have a greater choice in a week or so anyway and have heard Camber Sands is great with the dogs. Cheers all!

Love Camber Sands and Winchelsea. All year round you can go from just past the car park towards the MOD land (left as you are facing out to sea). I had a feeling summer restricitons ended on Sep 1st but I may be wrong. Lovely beach!

This is a good website http://www.thegooddogguide.com/

We also have our very own 'dog friendly Wiki' at the top of the page - do add to it people if you find some new places!
