I'm going with Kestrel. Thought a Merlin would have more grey over the wings?

They're very similar looking birds, the female Merlin can look almost identical to a kestrel. The merlin will be a lot smaller, and have a white stripe above the eye, which I thought I could see in the first photo. Also the kestrel should have a black band at the end of its tail.

I'm no expert. They do fly very differently though, so the OP could look at that to help identify it.

If you look at that first picture, the bird is almost as big as the house behind it thus it must be an enormous kestrel wink

Well at first glance it looks like a house, but it's actually a shack which is a lot smaller than a house. They can look remarkably similar, but defining qualities, such as surfboards, bikes and towels left outside help with identification. Obvously a house would have sufficient space to stores these things inside.

The beef curry bit was tongue in cheek. It wasn't fed anything. It was asking for a cup of tea though. rolleyes

She was here again this morning and I noticed she had a dodgy foot. So i called the girl in the kibbutz zoo and she told me it's the same one she rescued a year ago, and she's ok able to fend and feed herself no bother. Which is nice.

I named her Janet.
