With dog poo.

We will be picking up a new puppy (well you don't get old puppies) next week from the local dogs trust.

When I was a child and we had a dog we used to bury the poo and sometimes put it on the composter.

Now options seem to be

a) Flush (bit of a pain cause we don't have a downstairs loo)
b) Bag and black bin (I don't really like the sound of this)
c) Doggy loo (do these work)
d) Other

Quite excited about the new puppy biggrin 1st dog since I was a lad 40yrs ago!

we have three collies, each can dump like a small pony, mainly it ends up in the "brown bin" (how apt) with garden refuse, grass clippings, hedge cuttings, etc

Bag and black bin for us. I wasn't too pleased about this to start with but seems normal to me now.

If you have a foul sewer manhole on your property lift the lid and throw it down that, job done.

Bag and bin it smile

There should be some dog poo bins in your area otherwise use your own bin.

I use Sainsburys basics scented nappy bags ( 100 bags for approx 20p)

I made a doggy loo from a large plant pot and coarse gravel. Dig a hole about 2-3 times the size of the plant pot (min 10L, bigger is better), line the bottom with gravel, then place plant pot with lots of big holes drilled through it on top and surround with gravel, use a dustbin lid to cover it with. I positioned mine out of site amongst trees and shrubs that benefit from the fertilizer.

This was for our old dog who is no longer, our present dog does invisible poos in the undergrowth - result!

We have a bin at the bottom of the garden. We bag and bin it. Come bin day (every 2 weeks), we emtpy it into a bin bag and put it in the main bin for the bin men to collect. We thought about using those doggy loo composter things, but heard very mixed reviews. We use the cheap tesco/sainsburys nappy sacks at home, but proper poo bags when out and about as the oher half had a couple of incidents with the nappy sacks splitting when picking up. Not nice having crap on your hand with quite a bit of the walk left to do.

Good idea to carry tissues and get one of those 'handbag' size antibacterial hand gels ( Aldi do one for 69p for 50ml) biggrin

Absolutely georgeous! That would definitely do for me. (if I didn't already have two little bags of truble to deal with)

Not sure about the Cairn bit from that picture. Certainly not in the ears or coat to me.

Border terrier in there somewhere possibly?

My 8 yr old son wrote to our local paper to complain about the dog turds ln the trails behind our house , the council got hold of the story then put up a dog egg bin around the corner, result!
Phone your local counciland ask them nicely to put up some more bins.
Putting the bags down the sewer drain as posted above is foolish!

Some councils do not have special dog waste bins except in some parks. This was a case with my local council. I wrote them an email and they replied by saying that dog poo can go in any council bin so long as it is bagged up. If you are unsure contact your council.
As for throwing it down the sewer drain, I would hope that flatsix would have meant without the bags, as that is how I interpreted it. My in-laws have an outside toilet (they also have an inside toilet) and all dog poo goes down that. It is scooped from the garden with a small spade and flushed down the loo (no bags).
