Hi, we're the proud owner of a 9 month old scottypoo by the name of Jasper. Mad little thing he is and chases tennis.balls for hours he's pretty quick too although he couldn't keep up with a Labrador in the park the other week but leg size may have been the issue here!

Recently I've seen flyball on the telly and I think this will be a good thing for jasper to try.

Are cross breeds allowed? I've found the rule book online and it mentions mixed parents bit it doesn't make much sense to me! I've tried to register on the BFA forum but I can't seem to get past their security question!

Any help would he appreciated smile

Flyball is fab smile There's three key foundations to whether a dog will be accepted into a club...

1) Must love tennis balls
2) Must have a solid recall
3) Must like other dogs

Jasper is currently too young to join a club (must be 12 months old) but now would be a good time to put your name down on a waiting list. Cross breeds and non pedigrees are indeed allowed. Forums are okay but your best bet is to find your local clubs, go and see what they do and have a chat. Look for a trainer who is positive and makes the training fun. Lastly enjoy it! Flyball is great fun in itself for you and your dog, I can't recommend it enough.

We found our local club (Mansfield Marnicks) and am going to a training session on Saturday.

Wish us luck!

how did the training go?
I don't do flyball properly with mine but I have the jumps that I made and a box that I bought that we play with in the garden.
My dog is a funny girl in that she like to copy me so if I walk over the jumps to go place the ball in the box she will go over the jumps on her run. If I walk around them she will go to the side on her run too.
Helps if you have a couple of people to practice with.
