Norman was throwing up yesterday and last night, nothing coming up but bile. It's always twice, he'll throw up in one spot then wander off and throw up again after which he'll be fine for a few hours.

Nothing coming out the other end, he's just throwing up bile and he's gone to the hospital to be put on a drip for dehydration. He'll be having blood tests too.

He seems okay, still quite perky but not himself. Everything is up to date with him regards worming etc.

Anyone else experienced anything like this? My Dad seems to think it could be something caught in his throat like a hair ball. He's not eaten anything out of the ordinary

He may have eaten something that disagreed with him...

As long as he's still drinking well and doesn't have diarh... whatever... as long as his poo is normal, it might be something he ate.

If it goes on longer than a day/night, get him checked by a vet. thumbup

Poor Norman. Probably that dinosaur costume that did it! wink

Thanks Karyn and Ali, his blood work was fine, he's not been sick again when we phoned at 3 so hopefully he's okay.

We're ringing again at 8 but I'm at footy so I'll be updating this thread around 9 with any more news smile

I bought him a turkey toy and 3 bars of doggie choccie to welcome him home tomorrow biggrin

Prob should avoid giving the doggy choc bars for the next few days.

Poss a bug dogs don't generally get hairballs.

Hope he's home soon and back to his normal self. I assume pancreatitis has been ruled out smile

Chocolate will be for next week before I go away, I'll not risk out that could upset his stomach.

Most likely a bug then, just nothing runny out his backside which is odd, usually get sickness and that, not just one confused

Apparently there was nothing in his bloodwork, he's only 2 years old, pancreatitis common?

He's a Lakeland Terrier if it makes any difference smile

Quite common. Can affect any age/ breed. Can be due to eating something that causes a flare up. Doesn't always mean diarrhoea which is why I thought of it. Usually very uncomfortable for them though. Sounds like they ruled it out though if bloods came back ok, which is good :-)

Can be a one off (as with my dog when ate ladybird food!!!) or can recur.

Had my dog at the vet this morning as she had been sick on and off for a few days.Poos had been ok but just did not keep her food down. After an ultrasound scan and abdomonel scan she is home with some antacid tablets for a few days and to feed her chicken and rice.So must have been something she picked up.

Chicken and brown rice is what Norman will be having when he gets home too, seems to be the best for staydownability

Aw, Norman! Glad he's back and better!

What did the vet say, then? "Just" dehydration? What caused it?

He was dehydrated because of the vomiting but he's stopped being sick at the hospital.

The vet didn't really say what was wrong, just that he's okay and his bloodwork was fine. He's got a little bald patch on his neck and one on his leg too, quite funny!

He's asleep on my mam's lap and she's asleep too!

Glad Norman's OK, even if they couldn't get a root cause for it. Chicken and rice FTW!

(PITA dogs. Does anyone else find they end up eating chicken and rice for as long as the dog's on it, just so they don't have to cook nine hundred dinners every evening?)

He's on special bland dog food, he loves his turkey toy though smile I like chicken and rice, though I tend to stick jalapeños on mine mmmm

SPR2, glad to hear yours is okay too thumbup
