Poor old (well young) Dexter the Apso developed this in both eyes before Xmas. Drops have taken initial inflammation away and he doesn't seem to be in any discomfort. Sometimes they're fine, sometimes they prolapse.

Anyone any experience of surgery to correct or this condition clearing itself up, as I read can sometimes happen?

Mainly in bulldog. They are often hereditary, how old is your dog?

I don't know of many that self correct. Surgery should involve repair. The old fashioned and now frowned upon procedure is to remove it but this can cause future issues with dry eye etc. Some people just leave them with it but if a young dog repair would be better.

Repair is fiddly and can fail, ensure the vet feels comfortable/ confident to do the op. If necc see if a referral vets needs to do it.

7 months - Apsos & Shih Tzus are also susceptible, I understand.

They are, due to bulbous eyes just tend to see it mostly in bulldogs. Might be worth asking the breeders if any history in the line but won't really change what happens to. her care now

Surgery would be best buy I'm not surely there is a best age for the op (ie once full grown or as a pup)

No history on either sire or dam side, I'm told. Little feller's just been unlucky, I guess.

Needs doing, make sure the surgeon uses the 'pocket' technique which is very successful rather than trying to suture it to the orbital rim. If they want to just remove them, change vets!

Found a canine eye specialist who performed the op yesterday - Dexter looks fine post op especially without his pink protuberances (and yes, pockets both side). Fingers crossed all goes well here on in.
