The Great escape: eek

So, I accidentally left the foot stool by the rabbit pen, Frank saw his opportunity and took it!
I was lying in bed and was lying on my side putting my phone on charge and I felt movement on the bed, I didn't think anything of it as I have felt that a few times at night since Little Red died frown
I roll onto my back, iPad in hand ready to stick a film on and there he was, the devil bunny. Stood with his front paws on my tummy looking at me as if to say "Look what I did mummy".

A storage box with hole in should work quite well, or if your handy with wood you could try your hand at something like this:

Thinking of you at this difficult time, nothing anyone can say will make it any easier, but that's ok because the pain of losing someone reminds us of how much they were loved. You clearly gave her the best life she could have hoped for x

So after a long time considering buying one, I decided to treat the buns to a cardboard castle. If losing Red far too early taught me one thing, its that life is short and I wish I had got one of these months ago.

https://www.thehayexperts.co.uk/car...astle.html

There was a bit of investigating going on...

Then there was some redesigning (Obviously):

Vid of it in good use - There is music to disguise the sound of children lol!:
https://youtu.be/c5h6k1Z-XZo

Then they decided to go back to the free box which came with some Christmas pressies in haha

They have now come to see it as part of the furniture and I was able to throw away the presents box laugh, their own little space away from the hoomins. They are so adorable, they absolutely love it. Would 100% recommend these for indoor buns.

I'm amazed this one has lasted so far, although frank does keep chewing the ceiling on the ground floor, so the first floor could collapse at any time. I do have spare cardboard to carry out any "home improvements" as required laugh

I always worry about the buns eating glue and tape on boxes so i'm not keen on giving them too often. It is a better option money wise though.

They are adorable, I've always wanted a 3 but never been brave enough yet

Frank has pulled a patch out of the carpet this morning furious I could have throttled him, furry little a-hole

I also use a ceramic bowl. they have a bottle above it incase they run out over night but that doesn't get used so its a waste of water and my time it being there really haha.

Richatnort: Brilliant aren't they, Mine run straight too it when they are let out and love to snooze on the 1st floor of a lazy weekend afternoon. I'll take a pic of mine later on tonight to show you how they have "remodelled"

There are quite a few different lists of veggies that can be fed to buns but I tend to stick to this one, I have it as a favourite and before giving them anything new ill check on there to see whether its ok or not smile

I use a fold up silicone washing up bowl as a litter tray for my two, with wood pellets in and a big pile of Hay over the top to chomp on

You have been an inspiration to me because of the love you have for your rabbits as i have been following your posts (sometimes with a lump in my throat),I never knew bunnies could be such a loyal companion and give me so much joy.
Poppy seems to act like a cat as in she is always nuzzling me with her head for a stroke and as for her getting comfortable she acts like she's just been hit by a lightning bolt as her back legs go sideways from her and she just lays out which is alarming to watch at first but have gotten used to it now.
Thanks for all the nice posts and hope your bunnies stay happy.
Thank you so much, that means the world to me that I can help others, honestly.
My frank flops all the time. He'll just be sat there sniffing the floor then he jumps up and throws himself on his side on the floor laugh
They are amazing creatures and I wouldn't be without bunnies now. I hope you have many happy years with Poppy, she is a stunner, I am looking forward to watching her grow.

Poppychops in her usual position (between my legs) but sometimes she has a mad 5 minutes and runs about like a nutter and wheelspins on the wooden floor.
When i got her she was very underweight and her back had bites along her spine, apparentley the seller said she was the runt of the litter and her mother used to nip her back!,I knew i could give her a better life and gradually fattened her up and since giving her lots of fresh hay her coat is super shiny and she is happy and content.
B.T.W. i'm 53 yrs old and grumpy but since having poppy i have never been so happy and laughed so much.
They are certainly entertaining little beings.

I had to laugh yesterday morning. Cinders escaped by lifting the panels of the pen and getting it jammed so they had free run of the flat (Luckily we were still home and I busted Frank sneaking down the hallway). If I didn't have the Bunny cam I wouldn't have believed it was Cinders, I would have blamed Frank!
I took some screenshots of the crime taking place:

She sat sussing it out for quite some time before she made an attempt to lift the panel

After a couple of lifts it got jammed in place

Then she slides off and wonders around undetected

Frank has lifted his head from the food bowl for long enough to realise his mrs has escaped but he looks around and cant figure out how she did it

She walks along the side of the cage so he can see her and waits for him to come out but he cant figure out how she got out (Bless him, he's not very brainy). So she has to go to the gap and show him how to get out haha

I have this rug in their own area:
https://www.therugseller.co.uk/search-viewproductg...
With a waterproof sheet underneath (Just incase). They have pulled the pile out of it (when I say they, I mean Frank!) in one corner but that is what it is there for at the end of the day smile

I lift the rug and waterproof sheet every few weeks just to check all is well really, would hate for some water to have got under there from their bowl and for the Carpet to go mouldy or something

Thanks for that, I have just got the fencing but didn't think to incorporate the cage like that, so will be doing that to maximise the space. I just bought 2 cheap rugs to cover the carpeted area for now.

Unfortunately my 2 are proving troublesome to bond. They travelled over to our new place together in the car and spent the first night with each other but started fighting in the morning so have had to be separated.

At my old place they stayed in separate rooms and would have supervised time together in a neutral place for a few hours a day. if they got the chance they would hop into each others cage and mark their spot. Having them in the same room with both cages accessible to both seemed to cause an issue.

I'm hoping with time we can get them to share the same space in peace!

This was when I just set the new area up last night, I'll be adding more toys / things to keep him occupied.
I ended up cable tie'ing the run to the indoor cage as I didn't have a litter tray at the time so needed somewhere for them to pee, it worked out quite well so I kept it that way when I moved from sawdust in the whole cage to a fleece lining & litter tray with wood pellets in,

I'm by no means an expert but I have bonded 3 pairs which all worked out.
It maybe that you have moved too fast for them, going from separate rooms to living together, I would definitely have the cages in the same room with a couple of inches between them to ensure no injuries but so they can still smell each other.

I swapped the buns into the others cage every day or two to get them used to each others smell, this seemed to work quite well.

Like I say I am no expert and am just speaking from my own experience smile

Roger is lovely and I bet your right about him being the most travelled bunny laugh.
You're quite right, its so difficult getting a good pic of a black bunny, especially when they are indoors!

I managed to get this one at the weekend, Had to have the flash on which I don't like doing but this is Cinders, eating a very rare treat of half a strawberry and a red grape (her fav)

And this is Frank begging for Kale and showing off his lovely white tummy

One is not amused with Frank at the moment. He was rather overzealous with his grooming the other night and she let him

https://youtu.be/UVYt1OkWrps

I can't get over her just letting him pull her hair out... I've had notifications on for the last couple of nights since it happened and haven't seen him do it again but not my girl has a big bolt spot over her eye and the rest of the hair on her head is really thin although it doesn't look bad on the picture (Black bunny photo'd indoors)

They have a good diet, she hasn't got any sores/ cuts on her head, no bugs or mites. I think he just got carried away. Breaks my heart watching it on the camera, it goes on for 45 minutes
