Haven't posted in here for a while, sadly Wabble (the brown giant) caught her foot at the weekend so went in to have it stitched up today. However, it never seems to be simple with rabbits, she reacted badly to the anaesthetic and her little heart stopped at just 8 months old. Here she is during happier times:

I'm really sorry to hear that frown

I lost a rabbit under anaesthetic too (dental); unfortunately you're between a rock and a hard place....

Really sorry to hear. We were absolutely gutted when our first, Fudge, died at a year old.
Bloody pets at home rabbits!

Anyone fancy a rabbit the size of a dog?

So i got up this morning, went downstairs and the bittle bunny bds have eaten a hole in the carpet

Not at the sides or under the sofa where i can kind of ignore it like they did the old one but right in the middle of the room frown

as i have offcuts from when the carpet went in i can cut the damage out, replace it and then look at getting a rug to cover the area

Mine have stripped 2 areas of the carpet in my rented flat, luckily only very small patches in 2 corners...
Been trying to find the same carpet so I can get a man in to repair it.

Nightmare!

Thank you for the kind comments.

Fortunately the other one (Wobble) was in with his sister and another friend called Mr Quiggle. Unfortunately however, Mr Quiggle was a rescue and we aren't sure how old he is. He was rescued 4 years ago and they said he was about 2 at the time, so we'd bought the two giants together so that hopefully one wouldn't be left by itself. That didn't last long...

As a result, Wooble has arrived. We are hoping as Wobble is still quite young, and Wooble, they will get on happily. So far there has been a bit of chasing but nothing serious, just establishing dominance. Mr Quiggle won't hurt anyone so he's not a problem! Sorry about the names...my dad thinks it's amusing when the vet calls out for them...the vet has responded by just requesting to see the big rabbit!

Meet Wooble:

My gorgeous boy is struggling more with his back legs this weekend, I had to give him a wash yesterday as he hasn't been able to keep himself clean by the looks of things. Think I will have to do the same tonight.

I know the time is coming and I am terrified

That's such sad news Axgizmo, we have to keep cleaning one of our buns as he gets a really messy bum as i think he's not eating the wet stuff but eating his wifes instead which is rather annoying!

Hope he gets better soon rather then the other option!

Evening all, just after some advice really. We've just lost a 6 year old rabbit due to 2nd stage cancer leaving us with a somewhat lonely 6 year old left.

The issue is he has early dental issues (spurs) which we're working to fix and keeping an eye on. Is it worth getting him a pal?

y

I'd always say yes to them having a partner. Rabbits are social animals and can get lonely on their own. We had just 1 for 6 months and instantly saw a difference in him when his girlfriend arrived.

It's a good idea for them to have a friend - they are extremely sociable creatures and fare much better living with at least one other bun. My boy Bill loved it when we introduced Evie as he had company and someone to groom him ! As your existing bun is 6 maybe why not have look at a local rescue for a similar aged bun?

I'd agree based on experience.
Also, can definitely recommend going for a rescue/older rabbit.
Rabbits are the third-most put down pets, and the 'factories' such as Pets At Home aren't really arsed, they just want to make money.

Breaks my heart even writing this, but my first rabbit Sweep has passed away very early this morning.

Came in from a late shift 2am to find a fairly docile bunny in my bedroom. He clearly had waited for me to come home so he could say goodbye and shortly died in my arms.

Feels so odd at the moment and im completely numb :-( his partner soo looks too sad as well which is just upsetting.
