Lovely lilttle pup. After following this thread for ages, we picked up our 1st dog on Friday. He's called Sam and he's a lab / collie cross, nine months old. He's been a handful so far but we have good progress already considering it's only been a couple of days.
He's never done lead training but after an hour he's not pulling anymore and the walk through the village was much calmer today.

Surrendered so we know his history although he has been at the rescue centre for a couple of weeks in between. Hopefully the early signs are good although he's not eating as well as I would like so any suggestions are welcome.
We have training classes in couple a of weeks, as much for our benefit than his!!

absolutely handsome looking chap. He will take time to settle he is bound to feel a bit strange but he will pretty quickly work out that he is safe and sound and will relax. At 9 months he is going to have energy to burn and one thing I have learned over many years of rescue Dogs is manage the energy levels and you will have a happy content friend. Good luck and very well done on a great Dog,He's never done lead training but after an hour he's not pulling anymore and the walk through the village was much calmer today.

So today we have a different dog, generally obdient, following house rules, walked well, met other dogs and people fine. A polar opposite to the wrestling match getting him home in the car
He's happy to be left in the kitchen on his own, left us alone when cooking and eating....if we can keep this up I'll be well chuffed. Action pics to follow but he's on steady walks as he's just had his bks off, possibly the reason he's quiet at the moment...
