Bit of a long shot - anyone ID an Artist?
Discussion
If by some stroke of very good luck it was by Margaret MacDonald, a sometime collaborator with Rennie Mackintosh, her husband, though she mostly did panels and decorative interior stuff - but did some landscapes I think - then it would be worth a fair amount.
I'd doubt it, but might be worth checking out.

Thanks, I will do.
I doubt it will be worth anything, and wouldn't sell it if it was. I just like the scene, and wanted to know a little more about it.
The label on the back of the frame is quite nice, I love the phone number of the gallery (top left)...
Mary McDonald, it's worth about £15-20 million I doubt it will be worth anything, and wouldn't sell it if it was. I just like the scene, and wanted to know a little more about it.

Not well-executed enough, or remotely typical of her work, which is far more stylised.I doubt it, but it might be worth checking out.
Admit I agree, a more than long shot. I was thinking possibly of some early, immature and personal work, but checking dates shows she'd be well past any such work by 1902. The quality of brush work even on the images posted does show a gulf, to be fair. Don't recall her working in oils either?
Style wise, very, very different, but look at some of Klee or Mondrian's earlier works for example and you'd never suspect they were by those chaps.

Thanks for the info guys!
I guess it's likely just a novices work?
Tempted to remove it from the frame, and see if there's anything on the back of it.
Really no idea about it, or where to ask. The frame is quite badly damaged too.
TBH I'm not even sure if the signature is M MacDonald? It's quite difficult to read.
As for the forum, wasn't sure where else to put it - is there a specific art/paintings sub section?
