Morning,

We have a fearful day ahead as we are taking our one year old Patterdale (Maisi) to the vet. She has pigmentation change on her white chest patch and poor hair development on her belly and neck. She was treated for Demodex mite when younger due to this, but at a year old, she still hasn't got a full glossy coat.
Googling always scares the bejesus out of us when searching for symptoms and sadly, she ticks quite a few boxes for Cushing's disease. frown
Has anyone experienced caring for a sufferer ?

All I can say is she very very young for cushings so hopefully not this. See what your vet feels and hopefully they'll put you at ease, skin pigmentation can naturally occur without any medical reason.

Hope everything goes ok for you.

Thanks bex, as you say, and supported by our brilliant vet, she is very young. The vet said we have nothing to worry about but if we're still wary in 6 months, i.e. we feel her coat isn't any better, they'll do skin scrapes. So, fingers crossed, she's just a scruffy little pup - unlike her mum who we also have and who is perfect ! smile

My parents' previous dog (Jack Russell) developed Cushings when he was about 12. He went from being a very young looking (often mistaken for a puppy), fun, energetic dog, to a slow moving lethargic, almost senile one.

He occasionally showed signs of being his old self, but it never lasted. Sadly he deteriorated so much that the kindest thing was to put him down. Very sad.

I hope your little dog gets better.

Bump.
My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is going in for tests on Monday or Tuesday to confirm Cushing's.
Never heard of it before but after reading he has the classic symptoms. Always drinking, pot belly, fur loss, panting.

He is only eight and I am dreading it cry. I am about to fill in the insurance claim form.

How did you get on Woodnut?
