Missing Cat - Is there anything more I can do?
Discussion
Hi all,
I have taken in a mid aged cat, i have known her for quite a while and I'm very attached to her.
She had only been in the house, us, area, for seven days. We have no cat flap or anything.
She got out in the middle of a cold night 6 days ago and I'm gutted.
She is unfortunately not chipped yet, and has no collar either.
I've walked the streets calling her name day and night, just about to do a leaflet drop, I've rang the local vets, rspca, pet shops and catterys.
Ive also posted on the local for sale Facebook group offering a reward, and signed up to these 'lost pet' database websites.
Is there anything more I can do? I'm worried she hasn't established our house as home yet and will not know her way back.
How far do cats roam in a domestic environment?
She's a long haired Black cat, not known to be exotic or valuable. At her last home she was outside alot, but always in at night
Thanks
Matt

She is excellent and will be very helpful.
Displaced cats such as yours won't travel far at all, I bet she is really close to your home. They tend to hunker down and hide.
Best of luck,

We adopted an injured cat who would disappear on are regular basis, if we ever had a night away he'd be gone when we got back, sometimes for 4 days.
Calling him did no good at all, he'd turn up overnight and be there when you got up for breakfast. He did have a cat flap to use so leaving a window open overnight or when you're out might be a good idea.
Best of luck.

Well its been very frustrating so far.
She's been hanging around a bulk of houses about 150m away from our house, one of the lady's spotted her and gave us a call.
She feeds stray cats and she's been visiting her house about a week, great. But, she only visits at dawn and dusk.
We have been there a billion times to try and run into her and finally on Saturday night we find her under a nearby car. I walk over towards her calling her name and she recognises me, hops out from under the car, bounds about meowing, excellent, this is in the bag I thought.
So I've read not to get to near her in case that scares her off, I have tuna and gammon with me and she is interested, I sit on the floor about 20ft away and patiently wait for her to come to me, she gets about 6ft away and then decides to turn and leave and jumps a fence, so close!
Now the lady is on alert for her and is going to try and close the door behind her when she visits her house again for food and hopefully we'll snag her that way. But she hasn't been seen since so far, arrggghhhh.
Can't set a humane trap, as the other cats will get snagged in it.
Still, not dead, and at least she's being fed.
