Aww. They're good. I'm just enjoying all the other cat pics and stories. Don't want to keep flooding the thread.

Spending time with Dad this weekend

Now I know where that little one gets it from!

And this looks bad, but Walter is so gentle with them - I think he's just doing the usual tough love bit a Father does.

I was going to write the same. I always thought dad cats didn't get involved with their offspring.

It's all very modern smile

I don't know if many cat Dads get the chance? We are all about the peace and love here, even the dogs have had a sniff.

Remember Lebowski, the rescue Bengal who terrorised cats, killed a dog and tried to swallow his owners... Now living happily with Walter and Frida (though he tends to favour playing with the dogs) and having learnt the commands sit, kiss, high five and gentle paw, we are working on the kitten love. He'll sit next to the cage, have a sniff, then growl and run away. Still it's a massive leap from him being in solitary confinement on probably on the verge of being PTS.

It depends very much on the character of the male andhow familiar I bathe home they are Many you couldn't trust not to become aggressive to their off spring but it wouldn't really be in nature's best interest to kill off your gene pool so it could be when it does happen they weren't actually the male cats off spring in the first place.

That said, it would be wise to be cautious once kittens are exploring etc, Dad's patience may be tested and unintentional injuries can occur.

P.S. Aren't some more. Pics due soon wink

None of the other cats are left unsupervised with Mum and kittens. She has her own room with them during the day when I'm at work. They've all got homes to go to, along with some reserves if anything falls through. I've still a good few weeks with them yet though and the option of moving them to the barn (it's carpeted and furnished etc) during the day if they want more space.
I haven't had them vet checked yet, Bex is there an age you'd suggest it? I want them professionally sexed and wormed/flea'd.

My vet recommended worming at 4 weeks and first vaccinations at 6 weeks.

I've just sat quietly and watched Walter clean and pamper Frida for around ten or more minutes whilst she feeds and takes care of their kittens. What a wonderfully attentive and supportive Father. He's the Yin to her Yang.

(All whilst downstairs my two boys were trying to kill each other with forks and flames over a potato wedge).

Motherhood...exhausting

Taken tonight, the kittens have temporary names and have started to develop their personalities.

Top left: Private Dancer - First born and literally obsessed with me. Always leaves the litter to come and find me and snuggle up. When I awake and say morning PD comes to the edge of the cage crying for me to fuss it. (This is my favourite but I can't tell anyone that).

Top right: Samsquantch. The biggest of the litter, was twice the size at one point, independent and confident. An explorer.

Bottom left: Gary Laser Eyes. Inquisitive. Always watching. Loves 'his' Mum.

Bottom right: Rorschach (although his new owners have said he's to be named Biscuits. I like Rorschach) A climber. Climbs anything he can. And loves feet. Including climbing feet.

"Biscuits"? Poor little sod. I think I'd be hinting that Rorschach might be looking for another home...

Majority of vets do first vaccines for kittens at 9 weeks. I think you can give earlier vaccines for specific conditions but that shouldn't be necessary, especially as you aren't breeding all the time. Vet check at 6-7weeks old would be sensible, get them all sorted for worming before they move on to their new homes but probably best to chat to your vet. It will depend on the worming regimes they use.

Love how Walter cares for Frida and their kittens, what an adorable family.

Just taken a couple of snaps of Bells settling down for a kip in the sunny bit of the floor - which I'll post if they upload ok.
