Quick question, how many in here insure their cats?
I have a 4 year old boy who isn't insured btw
Yup - both with Animal Friends.I have a 4 year old boy who isn't insured btw
We were with John Lewis but the nearly doubled the cost so we binned them. When I asked why, apparently the second year wasn't discounted like the first - which was news to me and not noted anywhere in the paperwork that it was discounted.
Snip day for our kittens- 2 surprises - the first being the t-shirts to protect the stitches rather than the cone of shame, so far one has been no bother.... the other has had to be re-dressed 3 times already!
The other surprise- which is perhaps a little embarrassing- we thought we had a boy and a girl.... but actually two girls! Breeder told us one of each and we didn't look closely at their bits!
Well, on tonight's run I discovered what I'd do if I ever saw a cat get run over...
It looked okay - it ran off up the side of this house. Went straight under a transit, cartwheelled a few times and ran off. Didn't go under a wheel, luckily. But you hear about the ability of cats to run off but actually be badly injured.
And, of course, the van knew full well what it had done. The driver stopped about 50 feet down the road for a bit. Didn't even wind down a window to look behind it, let alone get out. Then it just drove off. Maybe because it saw that I'd stopped running past because I'd seen what had happened.
So, I went to the door of the house the cat ran to and told them what I'd seen.
I've had better runs.

Beauty has to be caged for a week/10 days after she fell & hurt her back (she's blind, slipped and landed on her back in the porcelain water bowl)
Having seen her climb the cage the Vet had her in, using the 'ceiling' like it was a monkey bar trail, we decided we'd need a soft crate rather than bars! We bought 2 of these & joined them together at the doors with cable ties so she didn't have to sleep/eat next to her litter tray, we put them on their side so there was less height.

Took up most of the living room
Hope he is better soon
That sounds like the same set up installed for Kiko after his double femoral head excision. Worked a treat until I came home one evening to be greeted by an exited Kiko after he had managed to escape after he had picked the zip! New poster to this thread after lots of time of looking at the pictures.
Picked Milo up from the RSPCA shelter on saturday and he is settling in well. He is an ex stray and around 18 months old and all black. He loves attention and is very playful! Currently getting him settled into a routine with feeding times. Seems to have an easy to understan cycle of wakeup, groom, eat, play and then back to sleep He is chipped, wormed and flead so in about 2 weeks time we will start to introduce him to the outside again.

Hey folks
Our cat hates using his litter tray unless he has absolutely no alternative, which is great in many ways, however it does mean that as the weather turns we are increasingly coming home to a muddy carpet and or furniture where he's been digging in the flower beds and then come in with mud all over his paws!
Any tips for prevention? I was wondering about removing a couple of inches of soil and replacing with some kind of synthetic bark or something, but that could bring about its own problems and could be costly.
I may end up getting laminate flooring in the future as at least it'd be easier to clean but for now it looks like I'm stuck cleaning a carpet several times a week!

Don't bank on it making much difference: our back garden is entirely (except for some pots and raised beds) artificial grass, gravel and paving - but she still comes in with wet/muddy paws!I was wondering about removing a couple of inches of soil and replacing with some kind of synthetic bark or something, but that could bring about its own problems and could be costly.
If you manage to teach your cat to wipe its paws when it comes in; please share the technique!

Haha yeah I did think it wouldn't make any difference and he'd just dig through it to find the mud If you manage to teach your cat to wipe its paws when it comes in; please share the technique!
