It's Caturday- Post some cats (vol 3)
Discussion
Couple more photos of Bear doing various things.
We've learnt that he's extremely inquisitive and very friendly. We've had lots of tradesmen here over the past few weeks and they've all had to deal with him either inspecting their work, smelling their tools or biting their toes.
We've also discovered we have bats in the trees behind our home as Bear sits on the window and watches them flying round most evenings.
He loves to run around for no reason, he's learnt to fetch and play hide and seek (you chase him, then you run away and he finds you, he runs away and hides, I find him, rinse and repeat).
He's slowly growing out of his hiding places so is reverting to sleeping in boxes or under the duvet.
Whenever I am home alone with the bathroom door open whilst using the facilities he follows me in and drinks from the tap (in the sink).
Anyway, the photos and a cheeky YT link to him slotting his chin into the thumb hole of a shoebox - Extremely Satisfying!

so our fluff ball mild mannered chirpyness has turned into a killer.
two mice this week and a live juvenile magpie that i had to rescue at 4am last night...i thought male cats were less inclined to do this...? obviously i'm wrong but its just happened quite suddenly.
Having said that one of our current 3 females had a busy weekend: bird on Saturday and frog on Sunday - frog was still alive and jumping well when I tried to get rid of it!
Males much more inclined to be killers than females IME.
Our old boy was a machine... mice, birds, baby rabbits, rats, a pigeon, a full size adult toad (brought in alive and deposited at my feet). Typical behavior was to chew the heads off and leave the body at the side of my bed as a 'present'.

My old cat caught, killed and delivered a pigeon to my bed. Didn't leave it next to the bed, bought it up onto the bed and left it at my feet on top of the covers. A few years later he took a dump under the covers all over my feet. Anyone here with a bengal?
Local petshop has adoption days every friday (there are tons of strays and abandoned cats in dubai) and they have had a 2yr old male bengal on their site for a few weeks now. on paper looks like my kinda cat but just wondering what they are really like to live with.
Blurb says he is ‘sweet and calm. Gentle, timid and shy personality’ but everything online about the breed says otherwise.
I have a largeish duplex (1800sqft) with a triple enclosed garage underneath, so 3 floors inc mezzanine for exploration and hiding. I guess some kitchen catproofing is required but other than that theres not much i’d be bothered about him investigating and knocking over. The idea of being able to train and leash-train a bengal appeals as i would like to take him camping/exploring in winter.
Main issue is whether he would be ok left at home during the day as any cat i get will be left alone 7-5 every day. Also wondering just how much attention and play he’d need in the evenings.
Dont really want a boring cat but neither a speed freak! Going next friday to see what he makes of me in any case.

I felt the same way as you did until a friend of mine got one and after seeing how it acts with people decided it wasn't for me.The cat respects the man but not the woman. The cat sees itself as between them in 'status' and therefore does not listen to commands from the woman and quite often attacks the woman.
Cat rips up EVERYTHING. They have a solid wood dresser in the bedroom that looks like a dinosaur has taken a swipe at it because the cat CLIMBS the dresser using its claws. Cat rips up furniture, books, papers whatever it can get its hands on. The cat actually managed to set itself on fire one day from attacking a candle.
He does well on a leash outside and is a lot of fun. But if you think you might not be able to handle anything you read online, don't take him. It's all true and as he's not a kitten you've no idea of temperament or what he's been trained to do / not to do.
I rescued a two year old Bengal a few years back. I was told he was a viscous killer who would hunt other cats and enter their home, urinate and kill. We named him Lebowski. He is the softest, most adorable, interesting and intelligent cat. He currently lives with three other cats.
Lebowski is clever. He knows commands that I’ve taught him including sit, high five and kiss. I also harness trained him. He can have his mad/active moments but I currently have three dogs that he keeps himself entertained with.
He will let you know when he wants attention/food. He knows my morning alarm and if I snooze it will love bite my feet or any other exposed part until I wake up. If I’m in the garden (he’s a house cat) he will stand at a window at cry loudly for attention. He sounds like he’s shouting ‘Mum’.
I love him so much. He’s almost dog like but so much easier.
I’d say they need company rather than being left alone. Whether that be a dog or another cat. Lebowski isn’t destructive. But then he has lots of toys, scratching/play posts and the other cats/dogs to keep him occupied.

You trained him, you reckon Gretchen. Sounds as if the boot is on the other foot to me! Lebowski is clever. He knows commands that I’ve taught him including sit, high five and kiss.
