On a Tuesday? Typical cat. I like his style.

Has he got any black hairs/ink spot or is he pure white?

He's a pure white...His mum is a pure white short hair. No details on the dad other than he's a player.

A couple of Colin the Cat:

Colin is one of 4 kittens my other half bought back from an animal sanctuary she was working at a few years ago.

Before this I was resolutely not a. Cat guy!

The lorry drivers that dropped the kittens off were called Colin, James, Nick and Mick.

All the kittens had a virus and needed nursing. Nick and Mick went to some friends and we kept James and Colin.

Unfortunately James passed away after getting a bone stuck in his gut, the vets struggled to find this and he went for surgery but didn’t make it - it was heartbreaking and we spent a fortune trying to save him. I was a bit taken aback by how much we grieved, I never got it before but now I do, like losing part of the family(

Anyway, Colin is a very happy cat and great fun to have around smile

A couple from the golf course earlier today ...

The first is your typical Arabian Mau type, the second just a stray moggy. Both looked as hard as nails!

I remember reading once that cats can't rotate their eyes in their sockets. Was I misinformed, or is your cat something special? I don't recall having ever seen a picture of a cat before with that amount of eye movement.

Well she's special to me if that counts smile

But in actual answer to your question, i haven't got a clue. Having just tested it again with her she didn't move her eyes, but her whole head. It could have been she made an exception as she'd been happily asleep under the duvet. I picked it up and found her there so thought i'd take a picture. Then along came her brother Bob ready to wreak havoc and it was him she's looking at, hence claws were deployed.

They can swivel a little bit because blue-eyed cats like mine often have nystagmus which is a rapid lateral small excursion oscillation of the eyes.

How’s his hearing? Pure white genes usually result in deafness. Mine have the masking gene so although look pure white they were born with the ink spots so hearing is perfect. From three floors away.

Remember to use a special pet friendly sunblock in the summer. Particularly his ears if he’s going to be out. Playing.

I think he probably suffers a little with deafness.....Not severe though. He can hear the dinner whistle from anywhere in the house, however, if I stand next to him and call his name I need to raise my voice before it registers with him.

Meet Smokey.....her first selfie.

She's a rescue cat, about 18 months old,we took her from a couple who did the rescuing, she was being neglected by her elderly owner (left outside for days on end, not being feed/watered generally), We think she is a Russian blue mix, and is very affectionate, loves company, and is very playful.
The rescue couple had her front paws declawed,(not great, but can't change it now) she was vaccinated and 'done', we keep her indoors as we have skunks, raccoons and possums in our neighbourhood, she wouldn't be able to defend herself properly.

She wants to go outside...

Is more than comfortable already, this was the night she arrived.

Has a way of letting you know she wants attention

I think we're going to get along just fine.

she looks the spit of my boy, also russian blue mix.

well with many thanks to gretchen, i have progress with cat no.2, taking the advice to move his food and litter outside the bathroom, a little further each day. this worked well, and i kept both cats apart for a while until one day mine shot through my legs as i came through the door and we had a face off.

this was an anticlimax really. mine sniffed the new boy, satisfied himself that there was indeed another cat in the house, shot me a look to say 'see!' and waltz off.

so for 4-5 days they have cohabited. not exactly friendly but no signs or noises to suggest fighting. still very weary of each other especially as the new boy is ravenous and eats ALL the food. the odd sniff as they slink past each other and that's it.

new boy is ultra weary of me. he is easily coaxed from where he is hiding [usually in the engine bay of my project car] with food, and when he is engrossed in eating i can usually stroke him and elicit the loudest purring i think i've ever heard. when he isn't eating, he will run and hide whenever he sees me. i have yet to discover half his hiding places as i can go all day without seeing him whereas my cat is rarely away from my side.

as i typed this, seems their ears were burning. super rare and terrible pics from 2 mins ago:

aforementioned favourite hiding spot:

my garage foreman with his angry face on as build progress is not to his liking:

Shirt that fabulous news. Great progress in such a short space of time. Just patience will pay off. Let the newbie sniff at you and don’t force cuddles and petting. Be snuggled up with you in no time.

Matching soft furnishings this morning as I debate redecorating my room

I’m avoiding grey so won’t be joining the gang with a matching kitty. Although my friend is looking at having two chocolate Siamese X kittens from a rescue shelter. Trying not to be tempted if there’s one left over looking for a home...
