Not posted in here for a while. We've had Bear for just over a year now and hope to get him a friend next year. The breeder has already taken their girl to the stud so we're just waiting to see if she's pregnant now. Fingers crossed!
In the last couple days Bear has discovered he likes sitting up here.
His coat has got a lovely creamy colour now and hasn't darkened any further which is good!
Still find him sleeping in the weirdest places. Believe it or not he did this himself.
Bear is JUST like our Jake was when he was young. I almost think it’s the same cat!In the last couple days Bear has discovered he likes sitting up here.

Did you get him from Brofield Birmans?

It's been 4 months since we collected our two kittens from my wife's neice in Portugal, and they seem to have settled in:
The black one at the front is Pantera (or Tera for short); the black and white one is Oreo, and the one at the back is our original one we've had for a while now, Raj.
Raj is not normally this tolerant - he's relatively okay with Oreo, but he plays a bit more roughly with Tera.

If you have achieved a level of acceptance where some accidental touching happens without incident. I think you've done very well!(The OHs cats are sisters and can't share the same surface...)
Since loosing our cat a few weeks ago (thanks for all the kind words) we are now on the lookout for a new kitten.
The dream would be a rescue maine coon kitten
However if anyone has any contacts in the rescue world they would be much appreciated, thought it would probably be a good time of year to rescue/adopt a kitten. is it worth contacting breeders to see if they get any returned after xmas?
I would buy one but we are not in a rush and hope like the idea of rescue/adopt.

I have a feeling that they have really bonded better than I thought: a few weeks ago, Oreo went missing, and Raj heard the worry in my voice. He went out with me, and fetched him from next door.
And this evening, it was Tera's turn to go missing. I tried our usual "hit the food trays together" to get him, but he didn't come. Oreo was following me, expecting food! While I was looking for a torch, Raj joined me in my search. I went up the road (Raj and Oreo ambled behind me), but Tera wasn't there. I then walked the other way, and Raj came running past me at a rate I'd never seen him run before. He got to the pavement at the end of the road, and did a roll on the ground. Tera then came up to him and they sniffed each other.
I'm sure in both occasions, Raj was being a 'big brother', and was looking out for them. He certainly kept an eye on them when they were first allowed in the rear garden.

I have Bear's 'line' paperwork somewhere that I could dig out and we could see if Jake is any relation to bear?

^^ My suggestion is that you visit the nearest Cats Protection or similar shelter and see if you are lucky enough to be chosen by one or more of the cats there.
I appreciate that is an option however I don’t want to be taking on a cat with issues, that’s why a kitten is the only option! Sorry to break the thread, but I’m feeling settled enough to reveal that Mercury, our very-nearly 19 year-old cat look his final leap off this mortal coil on Christmas Day.
It wasn’t a good day. I was at work overseas, our 16 year-old son was admitted to hospital with a leg infection and then, at 10pm, Mercury had his fourth stroke since February 2018. This time, it left him without the use of his back legs and the time really had come to let him go.
When I was told, I was being driven to work in the middle of nowhere, sat in a minibus in the dark. My emotions took hold and I had to just sit there with my jacket hood over my head and have a quiet cry to myself for a few minutes. No other pet has ever done that to me.
The picture below was taken when he was a kitten and because of his propensity to hide inside the duvet, we nicknamed him ‘Lumpy-bump’.
R. I. P little chap. Damn, he’s missed so much!

You have my sympathies. I know what it's like and I know what you mean about not being able to talk about it for a while. Thanks for the comments.
Funny how we all understand and appreciate the attraction of these little furry beasts.
Mercury was older than our children, who are 16 and 7 years old. He was as much a part of their lives as we are as parents.
Our daughter misses him in the morning when she wakes early, goes downstairs to watch TV and he used to curl up on her lap and fall asleep again.
You can’t replace those memories.
There’s talk of getting two kittens when the time is right, but that’s a way off yet. We’ll see. I’m not sure.
For now, I’m happy to see all your pictures and continue to read the stories of your own cats.

Sorry to hear about your cat, I know the feeling as lost mine a few weeks before you!
Our house still feels empty, makes you appreciate them even more when there gone, sadly!!
Hope the kids are ok! Couldn’t imagine loosing my childhood friend like they have!
All the best, and kitten pictures if/when you get them!!
