It's Caturday- Post some cats (vol 3)
Discussion
Hi, here's my cat Edward (Spuds, Hey You, etc). I've just spent several days reading all the posts on this Caturday forum, yes I know, should get out more.
Edward came from the Cambridge area, his cropped ear is testament to his feral youth, and he was landed on us when his loving family moved abroad. He's very well mannered, especially compared with some of the ruffians on this site! He's about 10 years old and nearly completely blind, I suppose that might slow him down. Virtually silent too, apart from the odd "meep". He got very matted a few years ago which meant a trip to the vet which none of us enjoyed, so now he gets a good combing most days. And treats after, to keep on his good side.
I'm curious as to what might he be, domestic long hair, brown moggie, Heinz 57? Thanks for any ideas.

Well. The vet finally called and it isn't good news.
The test done to the lump on Bear show its potentially cancerous and he needs to be operated on to ensure everything is removed before it spreads. They won't know for sure what it is or what's caused it until it's removed.
We're going to try and book this in for next week but it depends on how busy the surgeon is and their confidence levels otherwise it could be the week after.
Not very happy.

Hi Curly, Cookie and Edward could nearly be siblings, what breed is Cookie, may I ask?
He's officially recorded as a non-breed-specific Domestic Semi Long Hair (DSLH), although in his current full fluff trim I do sometimes wonder about the "Semi" bit. When he's having a good brush/fuss and his fur is swept back along his face his features sometimes look a bit Siamese, and at other times when he's sat imperiously outside all fluffed up against the cold he looks more Norwegian. He's often just known as "Daft Fuzzy Mog".Daft Fuzzy Mog, I like that. Your guy looks much more variegated in the new pic, my ladis a pretty solid dark chocolate flavour, though the under coat that combs out is grey. He's pretty outdoorsy much like yours, sometimes he comes in soaking wet on the outside, but I guess it doesn't penetrate all the way in, and probably acts as insulation. Apparently he got some virus in his youth that affects the brain end of the optic system so he's almost fully blind, but gets around pretty well as a rule. If grandkids arrive, he's been known to race across the garden and bounce off a flower pot. I suspect he's no smarter than he needs to be. Fuzzy Logic at work. So, DSLH, eh? Fair enough, hybrid vigour is important. Thanks for the reply.
Stressful couple of weeks in my own personal catland.
Firstly, if you recall i fostered a Russian Blue last year and got loads of flack for ‘doing it wrong’ and other nonsense. Well after a lot of patience and effort he turned into a bit of a dude and was placed with a decent couple with a huge apartment and terrace where he came out of his shell and became even more dudelike. Sadly I am told he caught a nasty dose of flu and died whilst at the vet. Still to hear the full story but a sad end nontheless.
my cat BBC has been a constant worry for weeks, on his second stay at the vets and has an operation tomorrow. first stay was also because he had cat flu, wasn’t eating and blood tests showed poor liver and pancreatic function, and lost a kilo in weight. This however masked the real problem in that he has eaten something which has become lodged in his intestine and needs invasive surgery to remedy. He is FIV+ so a lot of stress and drama in a short space with some more to come. He was sedated when I saw him last night, spaced out but on IV and feeding tubes he seemed like to have much more life in his eyes than i have seen of late
Lastly i have a new girl at home, who wandered in the garage one evening with freshly shaved belly and clipped ear whereby my conscience got the better of me. Very playful and fearless, black coat with brown leopard spots and big green eyes. I’ve had her chipped and vaccinated (my total vet bill this month is rather ridiculously huge, no such thing as pet insurance out here) but looking to rehome her as BBC will need some peace and quiet for a good while yet

Hope BBC recovers soon
Good luck BBC.. get well soon!
Horrendous to lose one loved one, never mind two in such a short period... my heart goes out to you.
We lost Minnie 27th Jan last year, at 18 years old... despite having 2 young mental things in the house since April, it still makes me tear up when I think of my old girl.
