With our two this would have resulted in eviscerated mouse being spread liberally all over the garden. They also do the same with rabbits, voles, shrews, and anything else that's smaller than they are. It's amazing how far rabbit guts can be spread around the garden.
This was her previous effort (not suitable for the squeamish)....

Normally she just eats the smaller ones. This one just seemed to have her captivated.
Did she kill the one in the photo that's sat next to her?

No, just kept pawing it until it ran under the decking. They don't normally survive.

Glad to hear it. I get the impression that you'd have watched and let her kill the mouse.

No, we normally only see the aftermath, if she's not done it already its just playtime.

I’ve said for a while I’d like to do some voluntary work for Cats Protection. Last week I was asked to take a six week old kitten found in the road for foster but as she wasn’t eating she’s stayed with the manager for now (possibly coming in a few weeks although I have a feeling she’s found a permanent home already).

Next week I should have my first three CPL foster kittens for a holiday bounce Paws crossed it works out.

Once some form of normality is restored I’m also hoping to do TNR at the weekends.

Happy Caturday smile

Gretchen, if you are taking pics and photos of the kitties, why don't you you tube them and monetize it? That way you can raise more funds for Cats Protection.

Mrs Singlecoil and I used to foster cats for the local Cats Protection. They supplied a couple of wooden pens which we had installed in the garden and every now and then we would get a call to go into town and collect a cat (or two) from wherever and we would take them home and put them in the empty pen.

Then from time to time someone recommended by the CP with a home for a cat would come and meet them, and in every case take them. We also had a couple of locals who would come and cuddle the cats so they would get used to meeting other people. The whole process was very rewarding and we wouldn't hesitate to do it again if there was any way we could make it work in our current place.

I'll see if I can find some pictures of some of the cats we had, some of them were real characters, such as Dennis the Maniac, Conan (he was big), Muffin and Puffin, Merlin (what an excellent cat he was) and Chris the Cuddle Kitten.

After living wild for a long time Tip , as in top of ear missing , would never be photo'd as above . He hunts all sorts ,even squirrels , and even stands his ground with the red deer that pass through daily .

.
Doesn't the missing ear tip indicate he / she has been 'done' at the vets, to prevent further kittens being produced ?

Our lad arrived, ( from the rescue cattery), minus a few bits n bobs, and his ear clipped, just like 'Tip'. They took quite a slice off hig lug 'ole.

It is used as a sign for TNRing feral cats so they’re easily identifiable as having been neutered and not recaptured.

TNR ing ?? Can you explain the shorthand please ?

Our lad was in a cattery for a long time ( 6 + months as nobody wanted him), and was supposed to have been feral.

We took him on and he has turned out to be the softest, most loving guy you could wish to have. Saying that, if another cat dares to stray onto his patch, they had better watch out !! He aint so soft then.

He is very handsome indeed. Another face that has a thousand and more stories to tell.

Was he named Tip by yourselves or previously? The process for identification is known as ‘Tipping’ so he could well have been ‘feral’, or perhaps a stray mistaken for such given his personality.

Given how straight the tipping looks and on his left ear I’d say it has been done intentionally.

His name is Mr Jasper, and he has been part of our family for 11+ years. We get so much love from him, its unbelievable. We also get a bloody good laugh from his behaviour, every single day. I absolutely adore him.

He has really settled in well and is happy to mix with people who visit our home, as when we first got him he was terrified and so timid.

I tell people that he enjoys - Blues and Jazz, Political discussions, and he is 'environmentally aware'. He also enjoys watching the likes of Poirot / Foyles War and historical dramas. ( all a load of crap of course).. He does love his food though !!

We had rabbits where we live and in one summer he polished off about 25 of them !
