It's Caturday- Post some cats (vol 3)
Discussion
We inherited this old girl (my gran’s inherited cat that we promised we would look after) - she was old 4 years ago, but still going now.
Over the last year her confidence has gone down. We check her in with the vets regularly. We have also had a few accidents recently - mostly cured by locating another litter box in the limited parts of the house she now goes to.
I think she is suffering from the cat version of dementia. We try and keep everything the same, timings and routines etc.
My question is around cheese! She is very picky about food, and we take up her breakfast / dinner and reoffer it later as she eats little, and otherwise the younger fatter cat would eat it. She doesn’t like any cat treats. But loves a chunk of cheese. Just a small one - cheddar or Red Leicester. But is that okay for an old cat?!

I'd let her have it if it was me. She's old, let her have whatever she'll eat.0a said:

I'd let her have it if it was me. She's old, let her have whatever she'll eat.I understand that cats are lactose intolerant so would need to watch the amount if that is true.
Tonight I’ve had to tell my beautiful black foster cat that her owner passed away this morning. This made me cry so much. He took her in as a stray kitten years ago and was all she knew until she came in to foster here last year when he became unwell.
She’s been very loving tonight as if she knows. She will soon be available for adoption and we will be sad to see her go but happy she finds a furever home once again.

Thanks!I think this is the right approach - what she likes in moderation.
It’s about quality of life now not quantity.
Give her whatever she wants in reason
